The selected individual will serve as Advanced Programs Manager for the Deep Space Exploration product area. In this capacity, the candidate will manage a core systems group, and secure support from part-time subsystems experts, in the formulation of Principal Investigator (PI) led missions.

As the Advanced Programs Sr Manager, you will:

• Development of mission designs and detailed spacecraft concepts, while working with scientists and project centers to secure partnerships and develop mission proposals.

• Development of spacecraft cost estimates and presenting to internal management to gain approval to provide cost estimates to external mission partners.

• Strong communications and interpersonal skills are very important as this individual will work directly with the other program elements, senior management, vendors, scientists, and JPL/GSFC project centers.

• Provide Leadership to the DSE Advanced Program's Systems Engineering efforts to include technical direction, planning, and staffing.

• Manage Systems Engineering resources for the DSE Advanced Programs area, and provide programmatic and proposal support.

• Provide guidance to a Systems Engineering team to include initial phase-A/B Systems Engineering lifecycle processes, from architecture and requirements development through the larger design reference mission and mission design, and their application to Principal Investigator led NASA missions.

• Provide oversight and support to critical advanced program area Engineering skill development.

• Utilize your background and functional leadership experience to help deliver on critical program pursuits and supporting the larger Advanced Programs and Deep Space Exploration business areas.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education

• Demonstrated experience in Spacecraft Architecture and Mission Design

• Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary system design and analysis team for a flight spacecraft program or in Advanced Programs

• Demonstrated experience in maturing discriminating technologies and infusing them into proposals and flight systems

• Experience with proposal preparation and negotiation

• Demonstrated experience in developing and fostering trustful and productive Government customer, partner, and supplier relationships

• Familiarity with NASA programs and NASA proposal process and PI led mission execution

• Demonstrated experience in a leadership role

• Systems Architect Certification or the ability to obtain the certification
Desired Skills:
• 16+ years of professional experience with a related Bachelor's degree or 14+ years of professional experience with a related Master’s degree

• Experience with the challenges of a Principal Investigator led mission

• Experience and strength in a major role on a planetary proposal and program

• Experience working with Goddard Space Flight Center and Jet Propulsion Lab

• Demonstrated experience in a leadership role with proven Full Spectrum Leadership attributes

• Broad experience of Systems Engineering life cycle process and tools

• Understanding of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes, principles and tools

• Missile or space segment design and test experience with one or more subsystems or disciplines outside of Systems Engineering

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $164,300 - $289,800. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
