Responsibilities
Sr RF Engineer System Communications Payload
Littleton, Colorado
Description:Come join the Lockheed Martin Space Radio Frequency (RF) Center of Excellence (RF CoE) team and shape the future! You can join our mission and contribute to challenging programs in support of Space Vehicles, Hypersonics, Human Space Flight and Interplanetary Missions, Missile Defense, and more.
Do you want to be part of a dynamic, fast-moving, high-performance team that's creating a best-in-class team culture, all while quickly adapting to ever-changing customer requirements?
The space domain is essential to modern commerce, scientific discovery, and national defense. Maintaining space domain awareness in cislunar space – the volume of space between the Earth and the Moon – will require a leap-ahead in propulsion technology.
The goal is to demonstrate a nuclear thermal propulsion (NTP) system on orbit. NTP uses a nuclear reactor to heat propellant to extreme temperatures before expelling the hot propellant through a nozzle to produce thrust. Compared to conventional space propulsion technologies, NTP offers a high thrust-to-weight ratio around 10,000 times greater than electric propulsion and two-to-five times greater specific impulse (i.e. propellant efficiency) than chemical propulsion.
What does this role look like?
We are looking for an RF Systems Engineer to join our team where you will:
• Lead and contribute to an integrated product team for RF communication system and subsystem analysis, design,
development, integration and test.
• Interface with software, propulsion, engine, and other NTP teams and subcontractors.
