Description:This is a Full Spectrum Leadership position within the Bus Center of Excellence (COE), focused on shaping, building, and leading a fully integrated team of Flight Software (FSW) engineers and Guidance Navigation and Control (GN&C) engineers. This leader will shape the future, leading a team focused on standard GN&C and Software products, technologies, and processes to execute on existing LM2100 programs, while supporting and advancing Enterprise and Engineering Strategies to produce standardized spacecraft bus configurations that support a variety of missions. This position will oversee design and have execution authority for all standard FSW and GN&C Products and analyses, as well as being responsible for ensuring the technical integrity of the LOB/Program design baselines, incorporation of best practices, and common design. This position will drive the overall strategy for Flight Software and GN&C products for LM2100 class missions and expanding into other mission spaces.
Additionally, this position will support LM2100 class new business pursuits by providing spacecraft bus solutions and estimates to meet mission requirements. This leader will be accountable to deliver Software and GN&C products including: Flight Software, GN&C algorithms, analyses, and hardware, and integrate with Software Testbeds and Simulation Software. For both GN&C and FSW, the candidate will be responsible for the engineering in all phases of the lifecycle to include requirements analysis, interface definition, object-oriented analysis & design, code & unit test, system integration, and support to formal test, delivery and operational support.
The candidate must understand and champion the enterprise vision for Enterprise FSW and GN&C in line with Common Products.
The selected candidate will be responsible for providing direction to subordinates based on general policies and management guidance and ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget. The selected candidate must have the ability to work in a team-oriented environment to achieve long-range goals and objectives, in coordination with Enterprise teams. The selected candidate must demonstrate the ability to perform self-initiated assignments and have experience with flight software design and database architecture. This leader will be tasked with the planning and coordination between multiple software development, spacecraft engineering and data engineering/maintenance teams.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Responsibilities will include planning and management of engineering critical skills to support Bus COE and enterprise technical needs
• Provide direction to subordinates based on general policies and management guidance and ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget
• Promote the development and insertion of Common/Standard Products including BOEs for new Product Line programs
• Own the Design for all LM2100 class missions for FSW and GN&C products and supporting tools
• Drive and execute active knowledge sharing through career planning and technical knowledge management, ensuring technical domain expertise of the entire team
• Drive process and tool development and deployment, resolving critical technical issues, supporting new business initiatives, and ensuring standard technical processes are in use on programs
• Manage staffing requirements, planning job assignments and rotations, and manage staff assessment
• Coordinate subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions
• Collaborate to develop our LM2100 Roadmap and support our IRAD investment strategy.
• Support proposals, Red Teams and INARs as required.
• The successful candidate must also have the ability to organize, motivate and lead groups of engineering personnel, and demonstrate in-depth technical skills for GN&C and FSW with a focus on Mission Success.
• Some travel (10%) will be expected.
Basic Qualifications:
• Successful candidate must demonstrate a minimum of 3-years Full Spectrum Leadership or equivalent experience including a commitment to the Full Spectrum attributes of shaping the future, building effective relationships, energizing the team, delivering results, and modeling personal excellence, integrity and accountability
• 15 years overall related technical experience
• 5-years of experience in software and/or GN&C engineering
• Demonstrated software and / or GN&C systems engineering full life cycle experience and hardware-software integration capabilities
• Demonstrated experience or knowledge with GNC algorithm development and / or GNC FSW integration
• Demonstrated experience as a lead of separate teams contributed to a common goal
• Experience with software and / or GN&C architecture development and implementation
• Experience with driving Enterprise engineering initiatives
• Ability to support moderate travel
• Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to interact with internal and / or external customers
• Minimum BS engineering or science degree in related technical discipline
• Domain knowledge of the design and development of software and / or GN&C
• Experience with cost account management principles, techniques, and processes, minimum three years of experience in either a CAM position, or a role with similar experience.
• Experience leading a diverse team showcasing strong team building, relationship building, and personal acumen
Desired Skills:
• Experience with LM2100 software architecture
• Experience with Honeywell avionics and software architecture
• Experience with heritage LM2100 mission operations
• Familiarity with Agile development
• Experience planning and estimating development campaigns
• Experience in leading new business pursuits, developing business cases, and providing proposal inputs
• Familiarity with managing across multiple configuration baselines and laboratory configuration management and control
• Experience in leading teams through cultural and geographical boundaries as well as operations across multiple lines of business.
• Demonstrated experience leading cultural transformation
• Strong Mentoring skills as evidenced through active mentoring relationships
• Demonstrated knowledge in Model Based Design
• Cross LM Business Unit and/or other Industry experience
• Experience driving standardization of products and Tools
• Proven experience as a conceptual thinker with the ability to translate into action and results.
