The LM Advanced Technology Center (ATC) develops the next generation of technologies to meet our customer’s needs. Headquartered in Palo Alto, with offices distributed across the United States, the ATC is staffed by researchers and engineers that work on the cutting edge of new technologies.

We are searching for a Senior Staff RF Engineer/Research Scientist to join our exceptional team. In this role you will lead the design of electronics with an emphasis on microwave technologies for space and terrestrial applications.

Some of your day to day responsibilities will include:
• Setting goals for, reviewing products of, and mentoring the technical and professional development of other more junior staff members
• Working with internal stakeholders, program managers, external customers, and functional management to define technology development plans and refine execution plans to realize new technologies.
• Educate and inspire your peers with new ideas and concepts
• Pursue the generation of intellectual property such as patents, trade secrets, standard development, and completed product design.

We are looking for someone who has demonstrated technical competence in microwave electronics design. You should demonstrate the ability to lead technical teams and generate new ideas - following through from concept to realization of new technologies. As this is a senior role in our group, you should enjoy a position where you have the ability to lead teams, mentor more junior staff, and inspire others.

You would typically have a Bachelors degree and 14 - 20 years of professional experience, a Masters and 12 - 18 years, or a PhD and 9 - 15 years.

**This role can be located in Littleton, CO or Sunnyvale, CA.**

Basic Qualifications:
• Experience in design of microwave and digital electronics including designs for instantaneous wideband operation and/or operation over a wide tuning bandwidth
• Product development experience with microwave electronics products
• Deep understanding of design capture and simulation tools such as ADS, HFSS, Altium, and Keysight Genesys
• Experience working in a lab taking measurement of microwave electronics. Typical tools would include a spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, or signal generators
• US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Government security clearance
Desired Skills:
• Experience with upscreening of electronic piece parts for space and/or high reliability electronics.
• Understanding of current technologies for microwave electronics packaging including wire bonding, chip scale packaging, flip chip, solder bump, wafer probe, and copper column processes
• MATLAB modeling, especially of digital signal processing (DSP) or communications/radar systems
• Understanding of digital sampling for RF systems including Nyquist zone selection, direct digital synthesis, zero IF, and other techniques.
• Experience with Government labs and technology devlopment partners such as AFRL, DARPA, and NRL. Leadership of contracts with these groups.
• Experience with inductry partners such as Intel, Xilinx, Analog Devices, Teledyne, MACOM, Qorvo
• Understanding of IC device processes including GaN, GaAs, CMOS SOI, InP, etc.
• Experience with congested EM spectrum to include frequency planning, spurious emissions analysis, out of band emissions, in band interference, and desig/test for EMI/EMC.
• Working knowledge of phased arrays or electronically scanned arrays
