Senior Signal/Image Processing Engineer

Then you should join Lockheed Martin Space’s Optical Payload Center of Excellence (OPCoE) to support electronic hardware development for space applications as an Associate Electronics Engineer.

As a Signal/Image Processing Engineer Staff with the Optical payload Center of Excellence (OPCoE), your responsibilities will include:
• Development of robotics vision algorithms, software architecture, and computer vision software for embedded software applications.
• Leading of a small team in the development and testing of computer vision software within simulation environments, to include a physical 12-dof lab.
• Leading the development of virtual testing using simulated imagery.
• Leading a small team that develops software algorithms that execute on embedded Power Architectures in a fast-paced environment that employs Agile methodologies.
OPCoE enables new frontiers in visible-light and infrared systems, missile defense, space exploration and much more. Our members integrate experts across the nation, within Lockheed Martin, our industry partners and leading research universities, into one fast-acting, collaborative group.

We are looking for a strong background in computer science and software engineering. You should demonstrate effective verbal communication, commitment to collaborative technology development, develop concise and professional technical presentations, and deliver briefings to peers, leadership, and US Government customers. You should be able to work in a classified environment.

Ideally, you will have a background in software or computer science and possess degree from an accredited program in a related discipline, such as Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or another related field.

You should be familiar with:
• Computer vision
• Embedded software architectures, and C++ development.
• MATLAB, Wind River WorkBench IDE, C++, and Wind River VxWorks 6.x RTOS.

You would typically have a Bachelors and 5 - 10 years of professional experience, a Masters and 3 - 8 years, or a PhD and 0 - 5 years.

Basic Qualifications:
• Experience with computer vision and autonomous robotics
• Experience in algorithm science, research, and development
• Experience developing and implementing (or leading teams that are developing and implementing) in C++, Python, Matlab, or related
• Top Secret clearance with an investigation within 5 years
Desired Skills:
• Experience with the VxWorks Real-Time Operating Systems
• 3 or more years of experience in algorithm science, research, and development
• 5 or more years of experience developing and implementing (or leading teams that are developing and implementing) in C++, Python, Matlab, or related
• Experience with real-time programming constructs
• Experience with image compression techniques and standards
• Experience with Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) algorithms
• Understanding of geometric camera projection models, and camera re-sectioning
• Experience with image rendering and scene modeling
• Understanding of radiometric model for cameras and other sensors
• Experience optimizing algorithms on the embedded platforms including FPGAs, and embedded CPUs
