If this describes you, come join our team as our next Ordnance/Pyrotechnic Engineer!

You will be responsible for design activities, including requirements allocation, concept evaluations, trade studies, layouts, preliminary solid modeling, analyses. Support will also be provided to producibility studies, cost trades, design for long term operations and maintenance, and all necessary development planning activities.

You will work closely with engineers, manufacturing and technical management and will be responsible for providing the integration, design and technical solutions and be responsible for engineering documentation and verification, assembly and test support, manufacturing and test anomaly/discrepancy resolution support, and support of cross-discipline product development.

Your duties will include responsibility for the design, manufacture, procurement and test for the initiation system, separation and ordnance components and assemblies. This job requires coordinating with customers, ordnance suppliers, test facilities and other related disciplines including manufacturing, subcontracts, quality, structure design, analysis, systems engineering and integration with affected subsystems and facilities. Other duties may include:
• Ordnance Subsystem Integration
• High and Low Voltage Pyrotechnic Initiation system and hardware design
• Lead the conceptual development, requirements definition, and design of ordnance components
• Perform trade studies to select the appropriate design solution
• Develop product performance specifications, statements of work, and supplier data requirements for ordnance components
• Maintain engineering drawings, specifications, and technical analyses necessary to support ordnance components
• Provide requirements flow-down, verification, and maintain technical baseline at the suppliers
• Evaluate, select, and then manage the technical aspects of the procurement from the selected ordnance supplier

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Considered career, or journey, level.

• Demonstrated Mechanical or Initiation System design experience
• Proven desire and ability to own technical challenges through solution
• Excellent verbal/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical audiences
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and customers, simultaneously and independently
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
• Demonstrated ability as a team player to build consensus among peers and build effective relationships with team members.
Desired Skills:
It is highly desirable to have the following additional skills:
• Proficiency in supply chain management and subcontracts
• Ordnance/Pyrotechnic Initiation System/Hardware responsibility experience
• Knowledge of Requirement development and management
• Experience with requirement definition, documentation and verification
• Experience ensuring and demonstrating government technical regulatory compliance including with hazardous materials
• Experience with Ordnance system integration of separation, ignition, and initiation components
• Ordnance handling, installation and test experience
• Proficiency with standard documentation and presentation tools
• Experience with creating 3D CAD models, detailed design with PTC/Creo, and release with Windchill/EPDM.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with adjacent disciplines (systems engineering, electronics, stress/thermal analysis, configuration management, production, test, quality…)
• Experience with Requirement development and management
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Fast learner with good problem-solving abilities
• Flight Hardware Design experience
