Mechanical Engineer Early Career

You can join our mission and contribute to challenging programs in support of Space Vehicles, Hypersonics, Human Space Flight and Interplanetary Missions, Missile Defense, and more.

The mechanical design engineer will perform design and analysis, MCAD modeling and drafting supporting development of antenna assemblies, supporting structure, and equipment layouts, models and drawings for antenna mechanical design. Create detailed MCAD drawings, maintain model associativity, run automated MCAD programs. Generate 3D models using PTC CREO and NX MCAD solid modeling software. Work under the direction of a lead design engineer and with a team of experienced antenna designers. Perform interference checking, and configuration control in an MCAD environment; employ industry standard dimensioning practices and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME standards. The candidate will drive drawing releases and perform/approve design changes. Other related responsibilities include providing technical memos and input to data packages to support peer and customer reviews.

- BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Proficient with mechanical CAD modeling and drafting
- Fundamental understanding of structures, materials and processes
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Ability to obtain a security clearance
- Experience with test methods, planning and execution
- Additive manufacturing experience
- Ability to perform initial mechanical analyses
- Mechanical hardware design experience
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, fabrication and assembly

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

The annual base salary range for this position in Colorado or Washington is $55,300 - $106,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of PTO per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO is prorated based on hours worked and start date during the calendar year.
