As a Mechanical Design and Integration Engineer of a major assembly, you will work closely with design and analysis teams to develop and deliver a product that meets mission needs. You will be heavily involved with the component and subassembly CPEs with a goal of understanding all technical aspects of the design and the corresponding requirements. You will coordinate with systems, electronics, software, thermal, stress, dynamics, and specialty engineering in support of your product.

You'll work with team to investigate pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace-ability, and contractual specification requirements and cost. Coordinate with other organizations affected by design development. Makes layouts of assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, structures, and products. Check completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning. Identify design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions and/or improvements.

You will participate in issue resolution, developing solutions to technical problems of varying complexity while assuring sound technical content and timely closure. Develop, review and maintains engineering drawings, specifications, manufacturing processes, and technical analyses necessary to support spacecraft development and manufacturing activities.

You should have an exceptional work ethic and knowledge across a broad range of topics in the mechanical engineering field. Possess good process focus with the ability to intelligently apply standard processes to real-world applications. Thorough, with good attention to detail and a proven understanding of documentation methods and requirements.

Basic Qualifications:
- Prior experience and knowledge of spacecraft design

- Extensive knowledge of mechanical design, mechanical integration, ATLO, and/or manufacturing through education or equivalent experience/combined education

- Experience defining and documenting system mechanical interfaces

- Experience coordinating with multiple engineering fields (mechanical, electrical, systems, flight sciences, materials, manufacturing, test, etc.)

- Familiar with mechanical hardware iteration processes

- Experience with CAD modeling and drafting (CREO or similar) and a working knowledge and experience applying geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (ASME Y14.5)

- Ability to lead multiple assignments and customers simultaneously

- Experience as a CPE/RSE or equivalent

- Material Review Board (MRB) Certification or equivalent experience

- TS/SCI security clearance; US citizenship required
Desired Skills:
- Advanced experience with payload/spacecraft layout, integration, fabrication, and/or testing experience

- CREO

- Prior experience releasing drawings in EPDM

- Familiarity with industry standard specification (NAS, MIL, MS, etc.)

- Understanding of and familiarity with Lockheed Martin drafting standards and materials and process specifications (MAP, LAC, EPS, LM, etc.)

- Design for integration/testability (DFM) experience
