About

The Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC) engineer at Lockheed Martin will have the opportunity to design, simulate and verify technologies such as missile autopilot, guidance algorithms, inertial target tracking, and Navigation algorithms using Kalman Filters for optimal estimation techniques. They will also have the opportunity to design, simulate and verify precision servo control and pointing algorithms for gimbaled seekers and other sensors as well as various actuators and mechanisms. Modelling and simulation of these systems is performed primarily in Matlab and C++.

We are seeking a talented engineering student interested in Guidance, Navigation & Tracking to spend the summer in an internship supporting the continued enhancement of the Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) interceptor missile and ground system. The PAC-3 family of missiles are the only combat proven Hit-to-Kill interceptors that defend against incoming threats, including tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and aircraft through direct body-to-body contact delivering exponentially more kinetic energy on the target than can be achieved with blast-fragmentation kill mechanisms. This role will require onsite support full-time at Lockheed Martin’s Missiles and Fire Control headquarters in Littleton, CO working a 4/10 Flex schedule. This position requires a current DoD Secret clearance; therefore, U.S. citizenship is required.

What You’ll Do:
• Support the integration, test, verification and validation of the system and various subsystems, including ground system fire control algorithms, guidance, navigation and autopilot algorithms and actual Operational Flight Program code with models of weapons, sensors, ground systems and environments.
• Analyze test data and assess performance
• Support system performance assessments and trade studies
Basic Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Engineering, Math, of Physics.

• Currently obtained secret clearance or ability to obtain by start date

• Willingness to work onsite, full-time, in a classified lab environment
Desired Skills:
• Experience in computer programming, Unix environment, numerical methods, controls feedback

• Strong technical writing

The annual base salary range for this position in Colorado or Washington is $20,904 - $67,288 . Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
