Job Responsibilities
Description:The Lockheed Martin Artificial Intelligence Center (LAIC) is seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to support the AI Factory team and product portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in performance tuning, data recovery, backup, and disaster recovery for databases. Additionally, experience with Golang API creation and Node-based web apps is highly desirable. 5+ years of experience in database administration
2+ years of experience with Kubernetes and containerization (e.g., Docker).
2+ years of experience with Golang API creation and Node-based web app development.
Knowledge of database concepts, including data modeling, normalization, and indexing.
Knowledge of software development principles, including design patterns, testing, and version control.
Experience with database backup and recovery, performance tuning, and disaster recovery.
Experience with container orchestration and management.
Experience with Agile development methodologies and collaborative development tools (e.g., Git, GitHub).
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Database Administration:
- Manage and maintain large-scale databases in a Kubernetes environment.
- Ensure high performance, availability, and scalability of databases.
- Implement and maintain database backup and recovery procedures.
- Develop and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
Performance Tuning:
- Analyze and optimize database performance using various tools and techniques.
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks, indexing issues, and query optimization opportunities.
- Implement caching mechanisms and other performance-enhancing techniques.
Data Recovery and Backup:
- Develop and implement data backup and recovery strategies using tools like pg_dump, pg_restore, and WAL-E.
- Ensure data integrity and consistency across multiple databases.
- Perform regular backups and restores to ensure data recoverability.
Disaster Recovery:
- Develop and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity in the event of a disaster.
- Ensure that databases are highly available and can be recovered quickly in case of a failure.
- Perform regular disaster recovery drills to ensure readiness.
Full Stack Development:
- Collaborate with development teams to design and implement Golang APIs and Node-based web apps.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure that database interactions are optimized for performance and security.
- Contribute to the development of database-driven applications using Golang and Node.js.
Kubernetes and Containerization:
- Ensure that databases are properly containerized and orchestrated using Kubernetes.
- Implement and maintain Kubernetes resources like Deployments, StatefulSets, and Persistent Volumes.

Basic Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in database administration
2+ years of experience with Kubernetes and containerization (e.g., Docker)
2+ years of experience with Golang API creation and Node-based web app development.
Experience with database backup and recovery, performance tuning, and disaster recovery.
Experience with Agile development methodologies and collaborative development tools (e.g., Git, GitHub)
Desired Skills:
- Experience with cloud providers like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience with Postgres
- Familiarity with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, GCP Cloud SQL).
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK Stack.
- Familiarity with logging and monitoring best practices for databases and applications.
- Creative and resourceful when it comes to problem-solving

Ability to Work Remotely: Full-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work remotely full time at a location other than a Lockheed Martin designated office/job site. Employees may travel to a Lockheed Martin office for periodic meetings.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $102,800 - $178,135. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. This position is incentive plan eligible.
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $89,300 - $157,550. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.
