WHAT IS YOUR MISSION?
As a member of the Proposal Operations team, you will support Lockheed Martin Space in our business development pursuits, such as working on proposals for contracts related to:
• Human and robotic deep space exploration
• Next generation Global Positioning Satellites (GPS)
• Communication systems for the protection of the United States
• Key defense initiatives, such as ballistic missile, reentry, interceptor, and directed energy systems to keep the future safe
• Advanced development concepts and technologies

WHAT WILL YOU BE WORKING ON?
As a Proposal Operations intern, you will have the opportunity to:
• Assist business development professionals with proposal planning, scheduling, and strategic analysis of customer requests for proposals (RFPs)
• Format and PDF Word-based deliverable to match customer specifications and ensure Lockheed Martin proposals shine
• Design infographics and visual concepts to artistically convey complex scientific topics simply and succinctly to our customers
• Prepare and deliver PowerPoint-based presentations in support of various business development activities
• Facilitate the proper archival and distribution processes for business development information
• Maintain project status and provide reports to both leadership and internal customers as requested
• Support various Capture efforts to secure new or re-compete contracts
• Support all lines of business within Lockheed Martin Space for both competitive and follow-on proposals

WHO WILL YOU BE WORKING WITH?
You will work closely with other members of the Proposal Operations team across all our regions (West Coast, Central, and East Coast locations), including Proposal Managers, Technical Editors, Desktop Publishers, Graphic Artists, and team managers. You will also interact with related internal business development organizations, such as Capture Operations, Print Services, and technical subject matter experts contributing to proposals from a variety of fields.

An internship with Proposal Operations will provide you with business development, project management, publications, graphic art, and leadership experience in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. You will have an opportunity to study the federal contract procurement process and participate in projects on the cutting-edge of space-related technology and exploration.
Basic Qualifications:
• Actively enrolled in an accredited degree program in the following disciplines: Business Administration, Marketing, Communication, Art, Graphic Design, Finance, English, Journalism, Economics, Management, or another related degree program.

• This position requires the selected candidate to be a US Citizen.
Desired Skills:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to double-check your own work
• Interest or coursework in business development
• Interest or coursework in editing, desktop publishing, or graphic arts and illustration
• Interest or coursework in leadership or management
• General computer and internet literacy on a Windows operating system
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
• Familiarity with the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
