As a Materials and Processes Engineer, you’ll work on a broad range of projects, in both a and manufacturing environment, that will challenge you to learn and grow in your career. Working side by side with designers, test and manufacturing engineers, you’ll use your education, experience and growing expertise to develop and evaluate new and innovative technology to survive in the most hostile of environments.

In this role you will:
• Select Parts, Materials, and Processes (PMP) on new designs that will help defend our country, get hands-on manufacturing experience of the next satellite, or provide oversight to an extensive supply chain providing products critical to Mission Success
• Perform Materials and Processes (M&P) and design technical engineering assignments
• Troubleshoot problems and find innovative solutions
• Participate in the selection, qualification, testing, and failure analysis of materials & processes, prepare technical and progress reports on assigned tasks, prepare specifications, evaluate suppliers and analyze test reports
• Coordinate with other disciplines such as Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement
• Support development of weight-optimized, compliant flightworthy components and structural assemblies which satisfy the contractual design criteria as well as any producibility requirements defined by Manufacturing and Quality Engineering.

• Proven ability to communicate key project information or recommendations to Program management and /or Customers

Basic Qualifications:
• Expertise with a variety of materials and process engineering disciplines including metals, metallic power bed additive experience, and manufacturing operations
• Experience establishing and implementing technical requirements (specifications, program plans/requirements, etc.)
• Experience reviewing engineering drawings and/or specifications and providing guidance to stress and manufacturing engineers
• Knowledge of environmental and operational requirements for materials in space and missile applications (outgassing, flammability, dissimilar metals, stress corrosion, etc.)
• Knowledge of Materials and Processes for product development, improvement, design, application and production
• Non-conformance and failure analysis disposition experience
• Good writing, communication and interpersonal skills
Desired Skills:
• Experience working collaboratively with customers and teammates
• Experience with design, qualification, and/or integration of mechanical hardware
• Experience in mechanical design with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Metallic power bed additive manufacturing experience, design and fabrication experience
• Materials or process related background with design experience and/or field of study
• Experience in polymers and polymer additive manufacturing
• Assessing non-destructive indication additive manufacturing results and providing recommended dispositions
• Metallurgy support on the manufacturing floor and working with suppliers
• Experience in participating in major program milestone reviews such as PDR and CDR
• Experience with CAD tools (e.g. Pro-E/CREO)
