Description:Lockheed Martin's Missiles & Fire Control, SOF GLSS (Special Operations Forces Global Logistics Support Services) contract is seeking a Staff level Aeronautical Engineer to join our high-op tempo engineering team that supports our Special Operations Forces Support Activity (SOFSA) Program located in Lexington, KY.

This program, critical to the success of US service men and women deployed throughout the world has the mission to rapidly and properly equip the SOF community and its war fighters with the best possible systems and equipment anywhere in the world. The team is focused mainly on modifying existing aircraft and integrating modified components into various platforms based on customer specifications.

SOFSA's program supports the customer with a quick turnaround of activities from the proposal through final integrations. An Aeronautical Engineer develops the computer based analysis models to verify the structural, thermal, and aerodynamic performance of designs developed by our internal and subcontracted engineering groups. The Aeronautical Engineer also works with the airworthiness authority to generate necessary data/reports for airworthiness certification of our delivered products.

The candidate will have responsibility for cost, schedule, and performance for all Analysis activities to meet contract requirements. This includes producing Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for proposals, creating Schedules and Plans, and performing to the baseline plan.

The selected candidate will work to ensure mission success on assigned responsibilities including meeting project and program milestones and providing Aeronautical Engineering domain expertise.

The candidate will serve as a mentor to junior engineers and promote collaboration to generate work products.

Occasional travel is required to customer centric locations.

The selected candidate will work for the Fixed Wing Project Engineers where it is critical that the individual be able to resolve the production issues in a timely manner to support aircrafts delivery schedules.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Engineering Mechanics from an accredited University.
• Self-starter that is well organized, disciplined, team player and well versed in the structural analysis.
• Must have experience with a Finite Element Modeling (FEM) creation using FEMAP, ANSYS, NASTRAN or similar software.
• Airframe Structural Analysis and documentation of aircraft structures and structural assemblies.
• Technical oversight of modification impact to airworthiness and aircraft service life.
• Good teaming, communication and leadership skills required.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products and Power Point presentations.
Desired Skills:
• Aircraft experience is a plus including C-130, C-27, MV-22 and CV-22
• Demonstrated previous success working in a team based environment to meet program objectives.
• Report generation for Government or thesis writing experience
• Experience leading a team and supporting failure analysis and corrective action activities
• Experience in testing US military products and familiarity with military specifications and standards
