Mechanical Engineer Stf - Electronics Packaging

Description:Join the Lockheed Martin team in our Air Force Programs locations where we are doing cutting edge engineering on missions of national strategic importance. Candidate will lead mechanical engineering research,
design, development, and production support for
electronic packaging and interconnects for ICBM &
Strategic Systems Programs. The candidate will work
across multiple AF programs as the mechanical
packaging design lead of flight and ground
electronics for Air Force Reentry Systems. The
candidate will lead the mechanical design team
through design updates, manufacturing, integration,
and test of critical spacecraft hardware. Primary
responsibility will be component/subsystem
specification verification, integration of new designs
during manufacturing, and developing/releasing
detailed engineering using CREO and EPDM10,
supporting in-house production, procurement,
outside suppliers, and AI&T. Additional
responsibilities will include providing daily tasking and
technical direction for the designers, regular
communication with customers and program
management, and driving the development and
production of hardware within cost and schedule
Candidate should have knowledge of CAD tools,
excellent written and verbal communications skills,
and ability to work in a flexible and dynamic team
environment. Candidate will be responsible for
assisting in developing flight configuration, working
with subsystem specialists to coordinate and conduct
feasibility studies and perform trade analyses,
prepare briefing materials and present results at
internal reviews. Candidate will also perform various
duties including developing electronic package
designs; investigating design factors such as
equipment or part availability, manufacturability, ease
of assembly, weight and cost; evaluating vendor
designs; developing and maintaining all assembly and
test documentation; trouble shooting and correcting
anomalies and discrepant hardware. Successful
candidate will also participate in failure investigation

Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 9 years of professional experience; or 7 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Considered an emerging authority.
Basic Qualifications:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a crossfunctional
product development team environment
- Fundamental understanding of spacecraft
structures, mechanisms, thermal products, materials
and processes
- Experience with electronic packaging flight
hardware design, manufacture, test and integration
- Demonstrated ability to drive hardware production
activities through delivery to the program
- Proficient with CAD modeling, drafting and release
in Creo/EPDM (or equivalent)
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and
documentation, including SAP, Q-notes, test
procedures, etc.
- Proven excellent communication, presentation and
interpersonal skills
Desired Skills:
Technical leadership experience
- Data Set Rating 4 and/or 6 experience....
- Familiarity with Lockheed Martin
- Subcontract management skills
- Knowledge of composite structure design and
- Experience with test methods, planning and
- Additive manufacturing experience
- Ability to work effectively with Program,
Engineering and other Functional Organizations
- Demonstrated knowledge of other disciplines
including stress, dynamics, thermal analysis,
production, assembly, test, electronics, systems
engineering, etc.
- Demonstrated commitment to development and
deployment of productivity improvements and
leveraging new technologies
Working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 including GD&T
- Experience working with procurement and outside
suppliers, including Product Acceptance Instructions
(PAIs), VRICs, source inspection, etc.
- Schedule/planning experience
