What does this role look like?



We are seeking an Assembly, Test, and Launch Operations (ATLO) Director to lead the Civil Space Orion ATLO team in flawless execution of the integration, test, launch operations, and delivery of Orion Spacecraft for NASA’s Artemis Program. We are on a journey to the Moon and Mars and we're closer than ever.




In this role will offer you the following daily key responsibilities:


The position is responsible for leading ATLO personnel, processes and procedures, equipment and facility development in support of production readiness and execution, moving Orion ATLO into the future of streamlined efficiency and digital execution. The Director will identify organizational staffing and capital requirements, develop technical/cost proposals, drive affordability, standardize procedures and processes, and work closely with other ATLO functional, program management office and customer leadership. Position is badged to the Space Sr Director of ATLO and assigned to the Space Vice President of Human Space Exploration. This position will also serve as the LM KSC Site Director, responsible for general oversight of LM activities at KSC to include engaging with NASA Center leadership, local community engagement activities and other site specific tasking. It means being the “Face of Orion” to senior local and national government / political officials (in coordination with Govt Affairs).



This position does not support teleworking; the preferred candidate will be located near our Lockheed Martin Space facility one of the Coolest places to work: Kennedy Space Center, FL , and be expected to work in the office.
Basic Qualifications:
To be effective, you will need to possess these basic qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other relevant technical discipline or equivalent experience/combined education.
• 10 or more years’ experience in a formal leadership role.
• Experience leading complex assembly and testing of high-value products.
• Experience leading technical teams.
• Experience leading and working with an hourly/technician workforce.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale operations and experience with complete site operations management.
• Experience maintaining positive working relationships with customers.
• Proven ability to interface with company senior leadership and highly placed customers.
Desired Skills:
To be effective, ideally, you should also have:

• Understanding of the Orion program and NASA customer.
• Program/project management, ideally on a NASA program.
• Experience leading teams within a human rated program.
• Knowledge of ATLO/Operations Strategy and Transformation Initiatives.
• Strong business acumen, CAM work experience
• Experience working with labor augmentation and/or contracted workforce.
• Proven exceptional strategic communication skills, both written, verbal, and presentation, to effectively communicate business cases to all levels of peers, suppliers, as well as program and executive management, with an ability to persuade and motivate action.
• Experience with interfacing and communicating with LM government affairs and senior local and national government officials.
• Ability to work effectively with other industry partners without a direct contractual relationship.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
