SCM Data Fusion Architect, Sr. Staff
Highlands Ranch, Colorado & Additional Locations
Highlands Ranch, Colorado; Sunnyvale, California
Job Responsibilities
Description:
What does this role look like?
Lockheed Martin’s End to End Resiliency framework combines early S&BD partnership, Space level Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), Supplier Designation process, Proactive Technical Strategy Reviews (TSR) reviews, Capability and Capacity assessment backed by risk management tools and aggressive contracting. Although these actions create a layered defense of early detection, supplier development, contractual alignment, and continuous risk scoring, they still rely on manual data pulls and static dashboards. To close this gap, we are developing AI enabled decision support tools that fuse internal supply chain data (ERP, SRM, PLM, contract systems) with external market intelligence and advanced analytics. The resulting platform delivers real time, data driven insight directly to GSC stakeholders—engineers, designers, program managers, and sourcing teams—so they can evaluate alternatives, assess risk, and make faster, more accurate sourcing decisions.
The SCM Data Fusion Architect brings together people, processes, and technology needed to make this vision a reality. Acting as the trusted liaison among Supply Chain Management, Strategic Business Development, GSCO Corporate AI/ML Council, and various AI/ML IT development teams, you will help define and develop:
➥ Data Ingestion Pipeline to Map each source (internal and external data pipelines) to an ingestion layer.
➥ AI ready data models that enable market trend analysis with a Standardized Data Model.
➥ New data capabilities – like Ranked list of qualified alternate source, cost inflation trends, lead time forecasts.
➥ Train and validate predictive models metrics and dashboards, that provides end to end visibility from design through delivery.
➥ AI based assessment of production line data, defect trends, and delivery performance.
➥ Real time supplier health index and early corrective action plans.
By constructing the data foundation, pipelines, and governance needed for the AI engine, you will convert internal and external data into clear, actionable insights that enable smarter sourcing, stronger supplier partnerships, and a resilient supply chain for our space programs. Your work will have a direct mission impact—delivering next generation supply chain resiliency that safeguards programs, lowers costs, and improves win rates.
In this role you will have the following daily key responsibilities:
➔ Capture & Prioritize Requirements: Collaborate with SCM, Strategic Business Development, the Corporate AI/ML Council, and AI/ML engineering teams to define, rank, and document data, model, and interface specifications.
➔ Design the Supplier Data Fabric: Partner with developers and domain experts to architect a unified data foundation that represents supplier performance, capabilities, financial health, and strategic alignment.
➔ SCM Project lead: Establish market intelligence resiliency tool timelines, monitor milestones, manage cross team dependencies, and keep senior leadership informed of progress and risks.
➔ Validate AI Features & Models: Work closely with AI/ML scientists to ensure feature integrity, track model performance, and embed explainability techniques (e.g., SHAP) into risk scoring visualizations.
➔ Drive Continuous Improvement: Analyze usage data, collect user feedback, and review operational metrics to iteratively refine ingestion pipelines, feature definitions, and UI/UX designs.
➔ Enable & Mentor Users: Conduct training and knowledge transfer sessions for SCM and business development teams so they can confidently apply AI derived insights for “blue green” supplier expansion and proactive Phase Out decisions.
➔ Implement Automated Ingestion: Guide developers in building end to end pipelines that pull from internal and external feeds, normalize data to a canonical schema, and maintain data quality standards.
Basic Qualifications:
To be effective, you will need to possess these basic qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or equivalent experience/combined education.
• 5+ years of experience in Data Architecture, Data Analytics, Supply Chain/Procurement, or a related field with focus on Business Intelligence / Data Engineering
Desired Skills:
To be effective, ideally, you should also have:
• Advanced Analytics & Problem Solving – Ability to ingest, cleanse, and analyze large, heterogeneous data sets; identify patterns and devise creative, scalable solutions to complex integration and AI challenges.
• Data Architecture & Engineering – Deep experience designing canonical data models, event driven ingestion pipelines (Kafka, Azure Event Hub, Kinesis) and batch ETL (Airflow, Data Factory, dbt) on modern cloud platforms (Azure Synapse, Snowflake, BigQuery).
• AI/ML Enablement – Proven track record partnering with data science teams to define, train, validate, and operationalize predictive models; familiarity with feature store concepts, model serving APIs, and explainability tools (SHAP, LIME).
• Supply Chain & Procurement Knowledge – Strong background with ERP, SRM, contract management and PLM systems; fluent in supplier performance metrics, cost of poor performance (CoPP), and the 1LMX Risk Based Assessment Tool/ROADs framework.
• Risk & Resilience Management – Ability to assess, quantify, and mitigate supplier related risks, including single source exposure, capacity gaps, and supply chain disruptions.
• Process Improvement & Automation – Apply Lean/Agile principles to streamline data flows, automate manual tasks, and continuously refine pipelines, feature definitions, and user experience designs.
• Strategic & Business Thinking – Translate corporate objectives (MSAC, MFA, program roadmaps) into data driven roadmaps that align sourcing, cost to serve, and capacity planning with overall business strategy.
• Data Driven Decision Support – Design and deliver dashboards, KPI visualizations, and a “Resiliency Cockpit” that turn raw data into actionable insights for faster, evidence based decisions across design to delivery cycles.
• Communication & Stakeholder Influence – Excellent verbal and written skills; act as the primary technical liaison between Supply Chain Management, Strategic Business Development, the AI/ML Council, and IT teams, influencing senior leadership and external partners.
• Business Acumen & Financial Insight – Deep understanding of finance, cost modeling, contract economics, and aerospace standards (ISO 9001, AS9100); use this knowledge to drive win rate improvements, cost reductions, and schedule reliability.
