SDA Tranche programs provide constellations of low earth orbit satellites and supporting ground systems as components of a sensor backbone for national security space customers. Support Space Development Agency (SDA) Transport & Tracking Layer portfolio Mission Operations & Sustainment (MOS). The portfolio includes over one hundred communication satellites operating in constellation. The space vehicle consists of a vendor-provided bus and multiple communication payloads.
The selected candidate will:
- Provide technical direction and leadership as deputy to the MOS integrated product team (IPT) Lead and MOS Portfolio Manager for SDA Tranche program Transport Layer and Tracking Layer missions, tackling tasks, actions and issues as they arise.
- Act as Responsible System Engineer (RSE) accountable for review of engineering changes, change impact assessments, and customer engineering change proposals (ECPs), and MOS team support to program design milestone reviews and mission success events, including the development and presentation of Mission Operations materials.
- Support customer working groups and forums as a representative and advocate of LM Mission Operations team.
- Work collaboratively with the other IPTs, such as bus, payload, ground, and software integration teams, to flow down activities identified in the CONOPS to the Mission Operations engineering products.
- Develop and maintain the following MOS team engineering products across the portfolio: Mission Operations Plan, Mission Operations Configuration Management Plan, and a select set of Standard Operating Procedures for LM Mission Operations execution.
- Work in coordination with the Program Configuration Management (CM) & Data Management team, and Program SW CM Integrator to ensure technical baseline rigor during mission operations and sustainment.
- Works with program cybersecurity team to ensure security controls adherence during mission operations and sustainment.
- Actively manage and communicate with the LM program and Chief Engineering Teams
- Work with IPT leadership to assign and manage resources for proper mission execution.
- Collaborates with systems engineering and other IPTs for reach-back support during mission operations execution and sustainment supporting vehicle on-orbit mission ops, such as continuation of mission functionality and interface management, troubleshooting/ anomalies, mission engineering analysis/ reporting/ trending, and on-orbit integrated test planning.
- Responsible for performance assessment, work assignments, salary planning, recognition, disciplinary actions, career development, and succession planning.
- Responsible for employee recruitment, requisitions, interviews, selections, on-boarding, training, and competency development.
- Responsible for workforce planning/forecasting through assignments of direct personnel to funded and high potential work.
- Defines and aligns training needs and plans, Knowledge Continuity strategy, talent acquisition strategies, and ensures overall competency development and relevancy.
Basic Qualifications:
• Satellite operations experience
• Systems engineering experience
• Familiarity with programmatic cost and schedule
• Demonstrated technical leadership
• Active or current secret security clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.
Desired Skills:
• Experience with payloads and/or buses
• Experience with integration across subsystem and system boundaries
• Significant experience in requirements and verification, interface control, and mission operations
• Anomaly resolution and previous experience with failure review boards
• Willingness to support the sustainment needs of the LM mission operations center facility and resources
• Demonstrated ability to operate in fast-paced environment
• Familiarity with Jira, Cameo, and Confluence
• Willingness to tackle a variety of ad-hoc tasks as they arise, working as deputy to Mission Operations & Sustainment (MOS) IPT Manager and supporting program management in SDA Tranche Programs Sustainment leadership
• SV program experience- 8-10 years of relevant space experience (advanced degrees will count towards experience)
• Satellite operations experience and experience with the entire development life cycle of space vehicles.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate across disciplines and organizations
• Strong decision-making skills
• Systems thinking

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $122,900 - $216,660. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.
