The Strata system was first deployed in 2006 and became a Program of Record in 2008. The program’s mission is to provide visualization services that facilitate access to GEOINT data and products in an online, on-demand environment to agencies across the Federal Government. The Strata suite of services are provided to the community in various formats to allow integration across a wide variety of client technologies and applications. Strata also provides applications that can be used to visualize GEOINT as well as additional utilities & technologies that aid in visualization.
The Strata program is seeking a UI/UX Project Engineer to become a member of their Agile Software Development Team. Responsibilities for this position include being responsible for the development of system architectures, including complex systems, and systems design activities.
In this position you will:
• Drive enhancements to Strata products to improve the user experience of our tools and interfaces
• Manage projects and work product integrations across the Software Development, Systems Engineering, User Engagement teams, and customer stakeholder teams
• Be responsible for the overall user interface modernization for Strata products, tools, and utilities.
• Work with agile scrum teams to verify acceptance criteria related to interface modernization and usability
• Identify and maintain user personas to represent key segments of our vast user base to identify UI/UX improvements and understand likely impacts to changes in the user interfaces of Strata tools and utilities
• Processing user feedback to form mid-fidelity wireframes to produce high-fidelity mockups to be used by developers.
• Work with the Systems Engineering team to help define development requirements
• Analyzing competitor applications to identify potential UI/UX improvements
• Work alongside customer stakeholders to select UI/UX features to be worked, gather feedback on potential design updates, and maintain an agile backlog of potential UI/UX enhancements and modernizations for future consideration
• Proactively identify areas where UI/UX support is needed and insert themselves into relevant meetings, discussions, and projects to provide expertise and guidance
• As the sole UI/UX expert on the team, drive UI/UX decisions and ensure that user-centered design principles are integrated into all aspects of the program
Basic Qualifications:
• 3+ Years experience in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Balsamiq, Adobe XD, or InVision.
• Understanding of user-centered design principles and human-computer interaction.
• Experience in front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
• Active Top Secret clearance to start the position with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Poly
Desired Skills:
• Familiarity with design systems and style guides and knowledge of accessibility guidelines and best practices (i.e. Section 508 Compliance).
• Ability to coordinate and oversee project tasks distributed across multiple teams.
• GEOINT community background with experience in multiple geospatial tools with 2D, and 3D user interfaces
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively in agile development
environments.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of machine learning and AI-powered design tools.
• Experience with design systems and style guides (e.g., Material Design, Bootstrap).
• Certified UX Designer or UI Engineer certification from organizations like Nielsen Norman Group or Adobe.
• Certification in accessibility guidelines and best practices (e.g., WCAG 2.1).
• Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Design, or related field.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
