Lockheed Martinis looking for an experienced wireless communications RF engineer to support the development of RF architectures, designs and implementation including design/trades, ICDs, and Subcontractor SOWs for various RF components. Tasks include modeling of RF systems using modeling tools such as MATLAB for developing RF performance requirements (dynamic range, harmonics, bandwidths, etc.). The position requires use of lab test equipment for RF hardware such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and oscilloscopes. This position requires strong problem-solving skills focused on wireless communications RF engineering.

This position requires a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Not needed prior to starting.
Basic Qualifications:
• Knowledge in RF communications theory such as modulation, link budgets, propagation, error correction coding, channel modeling, filtering, spectral analysis, communications protocols, and wireless network design
• Experience with 4G/5G wireless technologies, with a focus on the radio access and core networks
• Modeling and simulation of modifications to establish feasibility and performance
• Working with terminal modem chip vendors and base station modem vendors
• Interface Control Document development (ICD)
• RF COTS component integration
• RF system testing and execution of test procedures
• RF experience with spectrum analyzer and other RF equipment
• Experience analyzing RF data and debugging RF signal level issues
• Experience implementing RF isolation (couplers, isolators, circulators etc.)
• Background in design and integration of RF communications components (e.g. up/downconverters, HPAs, circulators, splitters, cables, connectors, etc.)
• Experience with End-to-end 4G/5G mobile telecom systems architecture and design
Desired Skills:
• Digital signal processing
• Experience using Keysight test equipment
• Experience performing failure investigation / root cause analysis (RCA).
• Knowledge or experience in wireless Layer 1/2/3 protocol design, simulation, and optimization
• Experience with 3GPP standards RAN1/RAN2/SA1/SA2
• RAN disaggregation / open source / Open RAN
