Description:

You will be the System Safety Associate Manager for the Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control (MFC) Advanced Programs line of business. Our team guarantees that every product we deliver is safe for the warfighter, applying rigorous MIL STD 882 analyses, shaping safety culture, and developing the next generation of safety professionals.

What You Will Be Doing

Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing and overseeing hazard analyses, software safety assessments, and hazardous material management plans that meet contractual and MIL STD 882 requirements.
• Translating system safety requirements down to suppliers, verifying that designs implement the required controls, and tracking compliance through verification activities.
• Reviewing specifications, design changes, and test plans for safety impacts and recommending mitigations in hardware, software, training, and procedures.
• Preparing and delivering clear technical presentations for internal technical reviews, customer briefings, and independent safety board meetings.
• Leading System Safety Working Groups, facilitating cross disciplinary discussions, and ensuring timely communication of program shifts to the safety team.
• Supporting the definition and verification of safety related requirements, and participating in the development of test campaigns that demonstrate compliance.
• Conducting accident/incident investigations, identifying root causes, and driving corrective action plans.
• Managing a small team of junior SSEs: setting performance goals, conducting regular reviews, identifying skill gaps, and coordinating development opportunities with Safety Leadership.
• Coordinating with senior program leadership to prioritize safety work, align execution strategy with contractual obligations, and report status through Lockheed Martin performance tools.
