Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) is one of four Lockheed Martin business areas, and is a recognized designer, developer and manufacturer of precision engagement aerospace and defense systems for the U.S. and allied militaries. We develop, manufacture, and support advanced products for military customers, including the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, NASA, and dozens of foreign allies.

With MFC, you will support implementing cutting edge technologies on both existing and new development platforms!

You will help us solve the world’s most difficult challenges supporting such wide-ranging domain areas as air and ground missile technologies, command and control systems, and homeland defense.

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to enhance our software safety efforts across multiple programs.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Creation, delivery and review of software-related products and documentation

- Be part of a development team that includes technical and career leaders

- Be a critical development/integration resource, capable of solving the most challenging software safety issues

- Function as an individual contributor regarding certain design decisions and tool operations

Basic Qualifications:

*Must currently hold a DoD Secret Security Clearance to be considered for this position*

- Bachelor’s degree, or greater, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science OR an equivalent field and significant relevant software development experience, with 5 years of professional experience, OR equivalent relevant experience/combined education

- Must have experience in the field of software engineering with a focus on software safety

- Experience in working with a government customer to: define requirements, develop software safety documentation, document and implement test strategies, create software safety artifacts, and to represent Lockheed Martin at multiple safety related meetings and reviews

- Embedded Software Development

- C++

- Embedded OS

- Previous experience as a Software Safety Engineer

- Experience implementing MIL-STD 882E

- Familiarity with guidelines and regulations regarding systems deployed for the military government customer

- Excellent communications skills, be able to work with multi-disciplined teams, interface with customer counterparts, and the ability to present technical solution to an audience of differing technical abilities

- Requirements analysis/development for safety critical system and software functions

- Software development on missile system

- Software System Safety Technical Review Panel (SSSTRP)

- Understanding of incident investigations and root cause and corrective actions

- Army Safety Review Board (AFSRB)

- Definition of safety related software controls/mitigations/monitoring and feedback

- Designing and implementing Level of Rigor (LOR) Testing

- Development and implementation of safety critical tests and documentation

- Development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) regarding safety testing

- Experience implementing DO-179B or DO-178C

- Experience working with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) or other Department of Defense (DOD) customers

- Full software life-cycle development

- Fuze and Initiation Systems Technical Review Panel (FISTRP)

- Generation and presentation of hazard documentation
Hazard Analysis

- Participation in Electrical/Mechanical Interface Reviews and
System Safety Working Groups
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
