Description:Lockheed Martin is seeking a Technical Writer/Multimedia Design Engineer for a position in Grand Prairie, TX supporting a team of Technical Writers that provide a wide array of technical documentation written to Military Specifications. Candidate will be a member of a team of Technical Writers that provide a wide array of technical documentation written to Military Specifications. Position requires preparation of Interactive Electronic technical manuals, other technical publications, depot maintenance work requirements, Repair Parts and Special Tools Lists and graphics, and training material in accordance with applicable military standard and commercial requirements. Position will also coordinate and host technical meetings with the customer and team members to ensure compliance is met during exchange of documentation between associate and sub-contractors to ensure materials are developed in accordance with all applicable military and commercial requirements. Responsibilities will include assisting the training team in development of Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) compliant and other multimedia training materials. Candidate will also assist with development and populating technical data in the Logistics Management Information System compliant with GEIA-STD-0007. Duties include:

Utilize excellent written and oral communication skills while working in a team environment.

Necessary to be flexible with outstanding work ethic and possess the ability to respond quickly to company and client needs.

Interface with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to verify and understand technical concepts and develop courses of action to ensure project completion is on time and within budget.

Utilize layout, design and structure of Organizational, Intermediate and Depot Level Technical Manuals (TM’s)' including Operation and Maintenance, Theory of Operation, Fault Isolation Procedures, and Illustrated Parts Breakdowns (IPB’s).

Read and interpret engineering drawings and software description documents.

Some travel may be required.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience and proficiency as a technical writer

Working knowledge of MIL-STD-40051, MIL-STD-2361, MIL-PRF-63002 for Modification Work Orders, and MIL-PRF-63033 for Demilitarization

Proficient with Microsoft office products (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, SharePoint)

Working knowledge and proficiency with Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML), eXtensible Markup Language (XML) and Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML)

Working knowledge and proficiency with Arbortext and UltraEdit or similar tools

Ability to write using clear and concise language that adheres to customer-established standards and conventions

Ability to research and write technical content for maintenance technical manuals including installation, test, repair, and troubleshooting procedures

Ability to acquire and verify subject matter content by interviewing workers engaged in developing products, observing production methods, referring to engineering drawings, notes, manuals, and similar publications. • Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) development experience

Graphics illustration experience and skills using graphics tools such as ISOdraw, Autotrol or similar graphics tools

Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills

Ability to quickly learn new software tools and processes

Candidate must be familiar with layout, design and structure of Organizational, Intermediate and Depot Level Technical Manuals (TM’s)' including Operation and Maintenance, Theory of Operation, Fault Isolation Procedures, and Illustrated Parts Breakdowns (IPB’s).

Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings and software description documents

Candidate must be willing to work overtime and travel as needed to support program requirements

Ability to obtain a Government Security Clearance
Desired Skills:
Previous military experience or working in DoD industry

Past experience as MLRS or HIMARS Launcher Operator and/or MLRS Maintenance Technician

Proficiency with Pro-E or similar Computer Aided Drafting tools

Proficiency with EPIC Editor, SiberSafe, 3D Studio Max, Javascript, Computer Based Training, and S1000D standard

Working knowledge of Content Management Systems such as WindChill, S1000D Common Source Database, and Adobe Professional.

Proficiency with Logistics Management Information Systems compliant with GEIA-STD-0007

Proficiency with SLIC Wave Logistics Management Information System

Proficiency using Interactive Authoring and Display System software

Proficiency using Electronic Maintenance System Next Generation Authoring and Display System software • Experience as Training Instructor

Experience leading or supporting logistics demonstration test events

Experience leading or supporting Technical Publication validation and verification events

Certified Military Training Instructor

Reliability/Maintainability engineering skills/experience

Safety engineering skills/experience

Human Factors Engineering skills/experience

Experience with tracking status for multiple projects

Experience with the development of Basis of Estimates (BOEs) within the discipline of Technical Publications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Journalism, Communications, or Media Preparation Techniques or related field and two (2) years of experience in writing, or editing pamphlets, manuscripts, military or Government publications to include research, analysis of information, write and edit final manuscripts; or six years of experience in journalism or equivalent field. Engineering Degree
