Senior Mechanical Design Engineer/ Grand Prairie (DFW), TX

Description:Lockheed Martin seeks an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer for a position in Grand Prairie, TX (DFW) to support Production and Sustainment Engineering efforts associated with a legacy missile program.

The candidate for this position will work in a Production Program environment and support Material Review Board (MRB) type activities associated with specific missile / canister components. The candidate will also evaluate defects on fielded hardware and their affect/impact on the system. The engineer will be involved in product line validations and first article inspections, and required to trouble shoot and resolve production issues related to the design.

Other notable tasks include:

Development of 3D drawing models and creation/release of 2D engineering drawings using 3D CAD Software, preferably PTC CREO-4.

Technical specification development for hardware processing.

Interface development and generation of Instructional Engineering Release (IER) documents.

Creation and development of Standard Repair procedures

Technical support to program suppliers for procured components.

Collaborate / Coordinate with other Mechanical Engineering (Structures, Thermal and M&P) and technical disciplines (Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Product Support), Procurement (Materials and Subcontract Management), Quality Assurance, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Operations, and product line suppliers / vendors.

Provide engineering liaison effort to support the fabrication, assembly and integration tasks associated with the product line, including audit step 25 production process reviews, and attending supplier audits.

Travel to support and provide technical assistance to existing / new suppliers, and to support hardware fabrication, assembly, integration, and testing in CAMDEN, Arkansas.

Grand Prairie is part of the “Mid-Cities” region in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex which is in the North Central region of Texas.

Grand Prairie is a suburb of both Dallas and Fort Worth.

The region offers a great cost of living combined with a robust economy and a pleasant climate.

The Mid-Cities is the suburban region filling the thirty-mile span between Dallas and Fort Worth.

These communities include the cities of Arlington, Irving, Grand Prairie, Grapevine, Southlake, Colleyville, HEB (Hurst, Euless and Bedford), NRH (North Richland Hills and Richland Hills), Haltom City, Watauga, and Keller, along with multiple other smaller towns such as Trophy Club and Roanoke and together represent more people than either Dallas or Fort Worth.

Basic Qualifications:
Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret Clearance.

Bachelors Degree from an accredited university, preferably in an Engineering field along with 2+ years of professional/hands-on experience.

Must have the ability to travel (approximately 10%) as it may be required to support the hardware fabrication / integration activities in Camden, Arkansas, and travel to locations across the US and Internationally to support fielded hardware.

Additional mechanical design skills:

3D parametric modeling experience.

Exposure to Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Experience with detail, assembly, and installation type 2D drawings.
Desired Skills:
Experience using preferred 3D parametric modeling software, PTC CREO-4.

Knowledge of manufacturing and manufacturing processes.

Knowledge of mechanical drawing standards.

The candidate should have experience with Material Review Board (MRB) type experience, where disposition of discrepancy reports will be required by engineering.

Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and Tolerance Stacks Analysis

Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

Knowledge of Agile PLM (for 2D drawing release).
