Description:Lockheed Martin is seeking a Senior Mechanical / Lethality & Survivability Engineer to join our creative team of engineers in Grand Prairie, TX. The candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in some of Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control’s highly innovative and ingenious solutions to complex technical problems facing the aerospace industry.

This specific position is related to analysis in such areas as missile systems, warhead technologies, and missile defeat mechanisms of new aerospace products and technologies.

The candidate for this Lethality & Survivability Engineering position will be responsible for supporting the following activities: addressing technical issues for the warhead system to include its various subsystems and components leading up to the integration of the warhead system.

The candidate will also support high speed impact analysis using structural/hydrodynamic codes. Tasks include support of system level trade studies, packaging studies, and development of interface control drawings, performance specifications and statement of requirements that will be sent to the warhead or armor system subcontractor for use in system development and production.

Additional efforts include support of verifying all technical requirements are meet, review of design package information, preparation of test plans, support of component testing and test results, supporting technical interchange meetings and design reviews, support hardware fabrication and testing.

Additionally, the candidate will provide technical documentation and input to data packages to support peer and customer reviews, present analysis data to program and customer personnel at technical interchange meetings, and design reviews.

The candidate will also be interfacing and coordinating efforts with Structural Dynamics Engineers, Mechanical Designers, Thermal Engineers, Material & Process Engineers, Environments Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Laboratory Test Engineers, Production Operations, Subcontractor Management and other departments.

The selected candidate may also function as an assistant technical point of contact with other Lockheed Martin organizations as well as Lockheed Martin customers. This includes supporting rocket/missile level integrated product team meetings and preparation of and presentation of formal briefings to program management and customers.
Basic Qualifications:
Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and have an Active Department of Defense SECRET Clearance and have the ability to obtain TOP SECRET Clearance.

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering with at least 5 years of professional experience (aerospace industry preferred) or 3 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree; 10+ years professional experience in lieu of Bachelors degree.

Proficiency with using structural/hydrodynamic codes.
Proficiency with generating associated test plans and procedures within the lethality discipline.

Candidate MUST have the flexibility to travel as needed.
Desired Skills:
Active Department of Defense TOP SECRET Clearance.

MS or Ph.D. degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field, with at least 3 years of professional experience in the aerospace industry.

Proficiency with understanding and interpreting of basic 2D blueprint drawings, part drawings, component drawings, assembly drawings, source control drawings, and interface control drawings.

Excellent writing and verbal communication skills for generating analysis plans, analysis reports, documentation, and proposals are necessary.

Candidate must be capable of performing in a fast paced, dynamic environment, and working in an inclusive, team environment.

Versatility to perform effectively in the conceptual, developmental, and production phases of a product.

Demonstrated mechanical engineering related experience in high velocity impacts and analysis using CTH, Zapotec, Pronto, Presto, etc.

Experience with Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

Proven leadership with demonstrated interpersonal skills.

Experience writing component specifications, and system/subsystem/component test plans.

Creativity/innovation to solve issues.

Proficiency with CAD modeling software (SolidWorks or PTC CREO for example).

Demonstrated strength in high velocity impacts with a desire to learn more and demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skills.
