Description:
You will be the IIoT and Automation Architect for the Advanced Manufacturing Technology team. Our team is responsible for shaping the future of industrial and operational technology across Lockheed Martin.
What You Will Be Doing
As the IIoT and Automation Architect you will be responsible for driving the industrial and operational technology strategy, ensuring scalability, standardization, and alignment with Industry 4.0/5.0 best practices.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Architecture that provides seamless integration across organizational solutions.
- Data aggregation and distribution strategies that enable interlayer connectivity for integrated operations across PLC, SCADA, MES and ERP layers.
- Best‑in‑class productivity and automation optimization designs that highlight automation capability in both greenfield and brownfield deployments.
- Participation in cross‑functional collaboration activities (DFMA, Kaizen, DFA) and being the guiding voice for best practices in automation solution development and scalable architecture.
- Knowledge of industry best practices and standards for robotic integration, IT/OT solutions architecture, robotic and automation safety.
- Coordination with industry leaders and startups to stay at the forefront of technological advancement and further Lockheed’s influence in the development of automation solutions.
- Act as a mentor to junior automation engineers and operations partners to drive strategy and adoption of solutions.

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a Secret clearance.
Basic Qualifications:
• BS in Engineering, Computer Science or similar or equivalent experience/combined with education.
• Hands-on experience in operational automation and automation/controls architecture.
• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing large‑scale automation solutions within highly competitive sectors such as aerospace, automotive, and related industries
• Experience with driving standard systems architecture and IT/OT integration with strong working knowledge in data management and pipeline creation to facilitate automated manufacturing solutions.
• Strong knowledge of all layers of IT/OT stack from PLC to ERP.
• Ability to obtain DoD Secret security clearance.
Desired Skills:
• Experience leading enterprise solution adoption and development to include: hardware and software standardization, structured programming language standardization, data integration best practices.
• Experience with automated assembly operations in high mix environment, fixtureless assembly operations and coordinated motion principles necessary.
• Experience with machine learning integration for robotic applications to inform travel path and decision making.
• Automation and Robotics Safety Certification or extensive experience with ANSI/RIA15.06.
• Deep knowledge of network and security protocols: Modbus, Profibus, OPC UA, Ethernet IP.
• Deep knowledge of IEC 62443, NIST and ISO standards for IT security frameworks.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical, scalable solutions and influence leadership decision making.
• Ability and desire to influence young engineers and mentor, facilitating growth of talent pipeline.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
