Description:Overview
You will be the Additive Manufacturing Engineer for our Advanced Manufacturing Technologies team, based in either Orlando, FL or Grand Prairie, TX. Our team is responsible for promoting and developing additive manufacturing initiatives across Lockheed Martin, and we're looking for a highly motivated and talented individual to join our team.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Additive Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a key role in promoting additive manufacturing initiatives across Lockheed Martin, evaluating and defining business opportunities, and working with customers to identify high-potential part candidates for 3D printing. You will be responsible for estimating the cost of manufacturing and developing cost-estimation models, as well as providing design support using CAD tools with a focus on design for additive manufacturing principles.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Promoting additive manufacturing initiatives across Lockheed Martin
* Evaluating and defining additive manufacturing value and business opportunities
* Working with customers across programs to identify high-potential part candidates for 3D printing
* Estimating cost of manufacturing and developing cost-estimation models
* Providing design support using CAD tools, with a focus on design for additive manufacturing principles
* Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and implement additive manufacturing solutions
* Staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in additive manufacturing technologies and applying that knowledge to drive innovation and improvement

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar engineering degree
• Ability to obtain a Secret level clearance
• Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate effectively with managers, engineers, technicians, and suppliers
• Strong problem-solving and independent thinking skills
• Experience with CAD tools, with familiarity with Creo, nTop, Houdini, Magics, 3DXpert, Catia, 3DX, or similar being a plus
• Familiarity with multiple additive manufacturing methods and materials, including laser-powder bed fusion of metals, binder jetting, vat polymerization, fused deposition modeling, and others
Desired Skills:
• The candidate should have a strong understanding of the steps required for 3D printing, including but not limited to:
o Design preparation and data preparation
o Build setup and orientation
o Support generation and removal
o Post-processing and inspection
• The candidate should be able to explain how these steps influence both design and cost, and be able to apply this knowledge to optimize part design and reduce costs
• The candidate should be able to identify opportunities to improve part design and manufacturing processes, and be able to work with cross-functional teams to implement these improvements
• Certifications in additive manufacturing
• Experience with design for additive manufacturing principles
• Familiarity with cost estimation and development of cost-estimation models

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
