What You Will Be Doing
As the Technical Publications Authoring Team Lead, you will play a vital leadership role in the sustainment of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program. You will oversee a team responsible for developing and maintaining critical operations and maintenance technical publications that directly support the readiness and effectiveness of one of the world’s most advanced fighter aircraft. Your role requires a blend of strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and effective team leadership to ensure the delivery of clear, accurate, and timely documentation that meets stringent military and engineering standards. You will work closely with engineering, sustainment, and quality teams to translate complex technical data into user-friendly manuals that empower maintainers worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of technical publications authors in creating, updating, and maintaining operations and maintenance manuals for the F-35 aircraft.
- Oversee the authoring process to ensure technical accuracy, clarity, and compliance with military and industry standards.
- Collaborate with engineering, sustainment, and quality assurance teams to incorporate the latest aircraft configurations and sustainment updates into documentation.
- Manage project schedules, resources, and priorities to meet program milestones and delivery deadlines.
- Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives to enhance documentation quality, efficiency, and user experience.
- Ensure documentation supports operational readiness by providing clear, actionable instructions for maintenance personnel worldwide.
- Review and approve technical content before release to ensure it meets quality and compliance requirements.
- Communicate regularly with cross-functional teams and leadership to provide status updates and address any issues impacting documentation delivery.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as Aeronautics, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aviation Maintenance, Technical Writing, Technical Communications; or Aircraft Maintenance experience in one or more of the following fields: mechanical, electrical, propulsion, structures, canopy, propulsion, general servicing and inspection in absence of a Bachelors Degree
Experience authoring Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM)
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Desired Skills:
F-35 aircraft or F135 engine maintenance experience
Familiarity / direct experience with S1000D standards and using SGML/XML, SGML/XML Authoring
Experience with removal, installation, and inspection of aircraft components
Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license
F-35 Engineering and Logistics systems experience (JDL - JSF Data Library, PDM - Product Data Manager, ATLAS - Advanced Technical Logistics Applications System, VAS - Visual Augmentation System)
Strong verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues, provide concise explanations, and collaborate effectively across teams.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
