What You Will Be Doing
We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Publication Author – F-16 – Level 2 to join our team supporting the F-16 program. In this role, you will be responsible for researching, developing, and writing technical manuals, maintenance procedures, and related documentation in compliance with program and military specifications. You will collaborate closely with engineering, production, and sustainment teams to ensure accurate, clear, and user-friendly publications that support F-16 maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational readiness. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, exceptional writing skills, and experience interpreting engineering data to produce high-quality technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities
- Research, write, and edit technical content for F-16 aircraft maintenance and operations manuals in compliance with contractual and military specifications.

- Interpret engineering drawings, design change notices, and other source data to develop clear, concise, and accurate documentation.

- Collaborate with engineers, subject matter experts, and other authors to ensure content accuracy and completeness.

- Incorporate updates resulting from engineering changes, safety alerts, and process improvements into existing publications.

- Apply applicable style guides, formatting standards, and publication specifications to ensure consistency across deliverables.

- Review and validate technical content for clarity, accuracy, and compliance prior to publication release.

- Support publication updates in response to customer feedback, operational findings, and aircraft configuration changes.

- Maintain documentation schedules and ensure timely delivery of assigned technical publications.

- Utilize content management systems and publishing tools to prepare and deliver electronic and/or printed publications.

- Ensure all documentation meets quality assurance requirements and passes internal and external audits.

You are a detail-oriented technical communicator with a passion for transforming complex aerospace and engineering data into clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation. Your background reflects strong writing and editing skills, paired with the ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical source material. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with engineers, subject matter experts, and cross-functional teams to ensure publications meet the highest standards of quality, compliance, and accuracy. You are adaptable, able to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced aerospace production environment, and are committed to producing content that supports operational readiness and safety. With a strong understanding of F-16 systems or military/aviation technical publications, you bring a combination of technical expertise and communication skills that ensures end users can rely on your work with confidence.

Basic Qualifications:
• Experience with engineering drawings, escape system technical orders, canopy systems, or removal/installation/rigging (i.e. Fault Isolation, General System, and Job Guide procedures)

• Prior ejection seat and/or egress experience with operational checkout procedures and/or general system descriptions (i.e. aircraft and back shop inspections, repairs, test procedures)

• Experience interacting with outside customers to resolve technical issues as required. i.e. Depot, Program Manager, Item Managers, and LM Engineering
Desired Skills:
• Prior military aircraft experience preferred
• Prior experience on ejection seat/egress systems, including ACES 2 and Martin Baker systems
• Prior technical writing experience strongly preferred
• F-16/F-22 platform egress experience preferred
• Experience with interpretation of engineering data, as well as, technical procedure authoring
• Experience with Egress Systems theory of operation and integration with aircraft systems
• Experience using Epic Editor, Isodraw, Arbor Text Tool Suite, Quick Silver, XML, S1000D or similar
• Flight line experience using Technical Orders (TO) to troubleshoot discrepancies within the ACES 2 or Martin Baker egress systems
• Experience replacing Cartridge/Propellent Actuated Devices
• Experience using aircraft and egress system related test/support equipment
• Willingness to expand technical skills within other F-16 systems .i.e. ECS, Fuels, Emergency Power, Oxygen
• Ability to travel for technical data validation and verification of new procedures (US/Foreign)
• Experience with Standard Group Markup Language (SGML or XML) tagging in a composite environment
• Knowledge of Explosive/Safety Standards and Procedures as related to the Egress Career Field
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
