Systems Security Engineer - Level 4

The System Security Engineer candidate is responsible for ensuring that cyber security requirements are properly defined, decomposed, allocated, implemented, and assessed to produce a cyber-resilient security design solution for the target platform.
This includes participating in working groups, design reviews, and formal artifact reviews alongside other Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) within the overall platform; and providing security expertise to ensure that cyber security is considered early in the product development lifecycle.
Applicant is expected to conduct a range of cyber risk analyses and security assessment methods.
Implement patches and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to address cyber vulnerabilities, feature changes, or obsolescence.
Develop documentation for specific installations and configurations necessary to obtain Authorizations to Operate (ATOs) in support of program schedules.
Contribute to and implement Plans of Actions and Milestones (POA&Ms) to mitigate open cyber risks.
The ideal candidate will communicate effectively with a range of audiences, technical and non-technical, and will function effectively on an engineering team to create a collaborative and inclusive environment that allows for the establishment of mission goals, itemized planning of tasks, and prioritization of tasks that drives the efficient execution of objectives.
A level 4 employee Typically has 9 - 15 years of professional experience.

B.S. degree in a technical discipline (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Security, or Information Technology)
Experience utilizing Joint Special Access Program (SAP) Implementation Guide (JSIG)
Experience with Committee on National Security Systems Instruction (CNSSI) 1253
NIST SP 800-37 Risk Management Framework (RMF) to design and harden information systems
DoD 8570 compliance with IAT Level 2 or higher certifications: Security+ or equivalent
Experience analyzing, decomposing, and allocating security controls into executable security requirements at the system, sub-system and component level
Experience and involvement in engineering activities through various portions of the systems development lifecycle including requirements, design, and specifically verification.
Experience with the development and sustainment of real-time embedded systems (avionics systems or similar)
Experience with secure software development concepts (e.g. static code analysis, dynamic code analysis, STIG/SRG hardening, etc.) as applied to high-level programming languages (C, C++, Java)
Experience developing security physical, logical, and functional architecture representations (e.g. Accreditation Boundaries, Physical Diagrams, Logical Diagrams, Functional Diagrams, Data Flow Diagrams, and Rack Layouts
Experience with engineering change processes and/or configuration control processes including Security Impact Analysis in relation to proposed changes.
Extensive experience developing and maintaining core security documentation artifacts for A&A Packages including Security Control Traceability Matrix (SCTM), System Security Plan (SSP) and/or Cybersecurity Standard Operating Procedures (CS SOP), Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M), and Risk Assessment Report (RAR)
Extensive knowledge of DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and Security Requirements Guides (SRGs)
Experience with security tools including SCAP SCC, Nessus, SIEM solutions (e.g. SIEM), and McAfee product line.
Experience developing certification test procedures (CTPs) and executing customer witnessed security assessments utilizing NIST 800-53A assessment methods
Expertise/knowledge in both compliance testing and penetration testing methodologies.
Experience with DoD 5205.07 V1-4: SAPF manuals and applying it to engineered solutions.
Experience with creating and presenting technical information to senior-level executives and customers
Experiencing with COMSEC and key management concepts / devices / solutions (Key Management Infrastructure)
Demonstrated problem-solving, technical writing, and troubleshooting skills
Strong analytical and organizational skills with excellent communication skills (written and verbal communications) and have the ability to work in a dynamic work environment
Experience working in an aerospace design environment with exposure to DoD customers and their accrediting authorities.
Experience creating, coordinating, implementing, and enforcing information systems security policies and procedures
Assist with the management of security aspects of the information system and perform day-to-day security operations of the system.
Evaluate security solutions and/or perform trade studies to ensure solutions meet security requirements
Perform vulnerability/risk assessment analysis to support certification and accreditation
Provide configuration management for information system security software, hardware, and firmware.
Experience with Media Sanitization methods and applying those concepts to physical equipment to sanitize media.
Ability to travel as required
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
Clearance Level: Secret with an investigation within 6 years

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

The annual base salary range for this position in California or New York City is $125,900 - $237,400. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
