Systems Engineering Lead

Description:This is an opportunity to work on the Labs and Tech Services (L&TS) System Engineering team. L&TS a highly innovative team responsible for developing, testing and maintaining aircraft simulation systems and subsystems utilized for aircraft capability integration and weapons systems development from concept design through production and delivery. Within L&TS resides an extensive collection of systems integration and test capabilities, including low-cost rapid prototyping concept development systems, full-dome handling qualities simulations, high-fidelity multi-ship, real-time, man-in-the-loop simulation systems, Reprogramming Laboratories, and hardware-in-the-loop mission systems and vehicle systems integration venues.

This position is for a Lead System Engineer to work on the F-35 United States Reprogramming Lab (USRL) Project. The primary responsibility of this position is to lead the USRL system engineering team’s development activities that are necessary to successfully complete milestones leading up to the full verification, validation and delivery of USRL product capabilities to our reprogramming lab customer located at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.

The system engineering activities include providing technical oversight for: Laboratory system requirements derivation, requirements management, requirements change management, system design development, system integration planning, system requirements verification, system performance validation, and onsite installation, setup and acceptance testing of the USRL subsystems.

This position will require close coordination with USRL Project Leadership and with F-35 Joint Program Office (JPO) representatives, plus proactive engagement with L&TS simulation software, subsystem procurement, hardware development teams, and other teams both inside and outside LM Aeronautics, to ensure an effective system engineering communication interface is established and maintained across the different USRL subsystems development teams.

This position may require unique program security clearances that will be initiated upon selection and acceptance in filling this position. Final approval of these security clearances is dependent upon the Department of Defense (DoD) and could take an extensive amount of time to be granted. During this waiting period, the work assignments directly related to this position will be limited. Therefore, auxiliary organization work assignments will be provided.

Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. This position requires a Secret security clearance to start, with a current background investigation.

This position may require travel to Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.

Must be a US citizen.
Basic Qualifications:
-Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited college or university
-Experience in leading the implementation of System Engineering practices in performing system requirements development, system design development, system integration and verification on complex systems.
- Experience in development of avionics hardware in-the-loop simulation systems.
- Experience with functional and interface knowledge on one or more of the following: avionics sensors, such as radar, electronic warfare, or CNI subsystems.
- Experience using the DOORS requirements management tool.
Desired Skills:
-Degrees preferred: Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Physics
- Familiarity with F-35 Mission Systems Architecture and subsystems.
- Experience in development of System Requirements and Allocation to subsystems.
- Experience in development of detail System Design
- Working knowledge regarding military threat analysis.
- Experience in development and execution of System Test Procedures
- Experience in delivering products to external customers
- Demonstrated experience in detail planning (estimating, task scheduling using MS Project)
- Working knowledge of EVMS and implications to project decision making.
- Strong technical leadership
- Strong oral written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Strong work ethic and self-motivation
- Strong planning skills to include logical task structure, estimating, etc.
- Strong understanding of product development
