System Safety Engineer

Description:Perform a variety of system safety engineering tasks to support development helicopter programs and projects.
Interface with Product Development Teams to promote safety as an attribute of design for complex, safety critical systems . Apply scientific and engineering principles, criteria, and techniques to identify and track potential safety hazards. Perform safety analyses, conduct safety risk assessments and develop recommendations for risk mitigation. Identify system safety requirements for sub -tier and associate contractors. Assist in the development and review of reliability and software development documents to include Fault Tree and Failure Modes Analyses, System/subsystem Design Documents, and Software Requirements Specifications. Prepare system safety documentation, presentations and formal reports for program management and customers.
Basic Qualifications:
BS degree in engineering or equivalent (safety, aeronautics, reliability). Experience in system safety, reliability and/or system engineering in support of development or fielded aircraft. Proficiency in MS Office/Windows applications and databases required.
Desired Skills:
Familiarity with aircraft and related systems, flight operations and maintenance practices desired.
Expect candidate to have excellent oral and written communication skills, and Work with minimal supervision and interface effectively with internal and external customers. Working knowledge of MIL-STD-882 and/or SAE ARP4761 and their associated system safety methodologies.
