What You Will Be Doing

Seeking an experienced engineering professional looking for an opportunity in a challenging, fast paced, high visibility environment requiring balance between engineering skills, technical awareness, and strategic thinking to ensure successful execution of the largest defense program in history.

This exciting position is a technical lead engineer on the F-35 Line Of Business team leading the System Modernization Working Group (SMWG) for the F-35 Program. Selected candidate will be responsible for technical oversight and execution of F-35 SMWG projects to ensure quality and on-time completion and deliveries. Specific tasks will include the followings:

• The SMWG Lead Engineer puts together the technical plan for each Technical Direction Letter (TDL) effort in support of the cognizant Program Manager for cost, technical and schedule. The technical planning aspect of this role will need to ensure that the Program can execute and deliver the CDRLs on time as agreed to in the TDLs.
• Ensure the SMWG “core team” is adequately staffed with Project Lead(s) for each effort. The candidate will effectively coordinate with the F-35 functional team leaders to identify and assign appropriate individuals to lead SMWG projects.
• Lead and integrate all individual SMWG projects. Be a primary LM technical interface to customer for all SMWG projects.
• Act as primary SMWG focal for technical reviews, programmatic reviews, corrective action, estimating efforts, and other technical interchanges for all SMWG projects.
• Ensure best practices are employed across all SMWG projects for quality and on-time deliveries.
• Support the use of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) best practices into SMWG development. Ensure seamless integration between SMWG projects with the government Early Lifecycle System Engineering (ELSE) process.
• Mentor junior engineering staff assigned to each area of responsibility.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technical Discipline.

• Experience in one or more systems engineering discipline (architecture, requirements, system design, verification).

• Technical experience in one or more of the following areas: Mission Systems, Vehicle Systems, Reprogramming Labs, or Weapons on the F-35 or other industry programs.

• Technical Lead experience.

• Experience with project management.
Desired Skills:
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate versatility and desire to be a contributor in all phases and aspects of product development.

• Knowledge of tactical F-35 design and operations is preferred.

• It is not required to be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for any avionics domain, but the candidate needs to possess a breadth of knowledge in most F-35 avionic domains (e.g., EW, Radar, EOTS, CNI, Weapon, …etc.)

• Familiarity with object-oriented concepts and the use of the System Modeling Language (SML) are desired.

• Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) implementation and best practices.

• Knowledge of the F-35 design toolset, including DOORs, Rhapsody, Cameo, Dimensions, and SIMS.

• Demonstrate the ability to analyze complex technical problems, present findings/recommendations and implement solutions.

• Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project)

• Highly motivated, energetic self-starter.

• Formal or informal mentoring experience

• Current F-35 SAP Clearances
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
Clearance Level: Secret with Investigation or CV date within 5 years

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
