We’re looking for forward-thinking talent to join our newly formed Production Engineering Program Assist Team: a hands-on group supporting the seamless transition of breakthrough concepts into real-world, production-ready aircraft.

What You Will Be Doing:
As a Producibility Manufacturing Engineer – Structures & Composites, based at one of our Skunk Works locations—Palmdale, Fort Worth, or Marietta—you will serve as a trusted subject matter expert, applying your knowledge of composite fabrication, structural producibility, and advanced manufacturing techniques to support our most cutting-edge programs. You will:
• Collaborate across design and production teams to optimize aircraft structures for manufacturability at our advanced development sites.
• Lead design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and concurrent engineering efforts to ensure new designs are scalable and ready for fast-paced production environments.
• Guide engineering decisions with deep insight into modern materials, tooling approaches, and emerging manufacturing methods—especially in composites and metallic structures.
• Influence design and manufacturing direction by translating complex technical concepts into compelling narratives for senior leadership.
• Drive technology adoption across our Skunk Works campuses, from digital twin integration to additive manufacturing workflows.
• Serve as a bridge between engineering, manufacturing, and program teams across our locations in Palmdale, Fort Worth, and Marietta, ensuring alignment, knowledge sharing, and execution excellence.

You’re a systems thinker, innovator, and doer—someone who’s as comfortable guiding digital transformation initiatives as they are reviewing a CAD model or supporting the production floor. Whether based in California, Texas, or Georgia, you bring sharp technical skills, strong communication, and a passion for transforming aerospace design into production reality.

Basic Qualifications:
• Design for Manufacturability (DFM): In-depth knowledge of design principles and practices that ensure producibility, including tooling design, assembly design & simulation, tolerance analysis, geometric dimensioning, and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Determinate Assembly: Experience with design and assembly processes to support minimal drilling shimming and tooling on assembly.
• Manufacturing Processes: Familiarity with various manufacturing processes, such as machining, additive, casting, forging, welding, and 3D printing.
• Digital Twin and Simulation: Experience with digital twin technologies; experience with simulation tools to drive optimization and virtual manufacturing solutions.
• Computer-Aided Design (CAD): Expertise in CAD software, such as CATIA V5, V6 or NX, to analyze and optimize designs.
• Security Clearance : Final Secret Clearance investigation within the last 5 years required.
• Bachelors Degree: Required in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related field.
Desired Skills:
• Relevant professional certifications, such as PMP, Six Sigma, or Lean Manufacturing.
• Knowledge of current Product Lifecycle Manager (PLM) methods in 3DX and / or Teamcenter Accelerator, advances, and enablement of integrated workflows.
• Knowledge of cost estimation principles and practices to estimate manufacturing costs and optimize design for cost.
• Familiarity with supply chain management principles and practices to ensure effective supplier selection and management.
• Understanding of risk management principles and practices to identify and mitigate risks associated with design and manufacturing.
• Familiarity with Industry 4.0 principles and technologies, such as IoT, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
• Understanding of digital twin principles and applications to optimize design, manufacturing, and maintenance.
• Knowledge of cutting edge manufacturing processes and technologies such as 3D printing and additive manufacturing; advanced materials and composite structures; and reusability and refurbishment of vehicles.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and technologies such as advanced robotics and automation systems; AI-powered quality control and inspection systems; and lightweight materials and structures (e.g., carbon fiber, aluminum).
• Experience with manufacturing processes and technologies specific to the aerospace and defense industry such as high-performance materials and coatings; advanced propulsion systems and power generation; and secure and reliable communication systems.
• Effective collaboration and communication skills to work with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and suppliers.
• Strong problem-solving and adaptability skills to address complex technical challenges and evolving project requirements.
• Leadership and mentoring skills to guide and develop junior engineers and influence design and manufacturing decisions.
• Commitment to continuous learning and innovation, staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in advanced manufacturing.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
Clearance Level: Secret with Investigation or CV date within 5 years

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $138,100 - $243,455. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $158,800 - $275,195. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
