Chief Research Engineering Senior Manager - Special Operations Forces

Description:Lockheed Martin SOF GLSS contract is looking for a Chief Engineer with strong Leadership, Mechanical and Electrical Design experience to lead the Special Operations Forces Global Logistics Services (SOF GLSS) Fixed Wing (FW) team.

Reporting to the SOF GLSS Engineering Director this position directly supports the FW mission area Director with program execution.

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
* design integrity and contract performance for unique SOF equipped configurations of fixed wing platforms for US and International SOF customers,
*maintaining design integrity in a customer mission focused, high op-tempo environment,
* ability to lead and direct task order execution across site planning, innovative/rapid concept design and implementation in a high visibility customer focused environment,
* provide technical excellence to support mission success,
* communicate technical status and issues internally to program leadership, technical leadership and functional leadership.

The individual must have the experience, desire, and demonstrated leadership capability to lead a team of approximately 50 engineers – primarily Mechanical Design and Stress/Dynamics Analysis with an Electrical Team for Design and Analysis.

Given that the position is responsible for proposal activities and development of concepts to integrate into the Fixed Wing strategic roadmaps, proven customer negotiation skills - oral and written - are extremely beneficial.

Domestic travel will be required and infrequent
foreign travel is also possible.
Basic Qualifications:

•Technical management experience
•Creative thinking
•Excellent customer and company interface
background
•Outstanding communication skills
•Ability to make good decisions with limited data
•Experience leading diverse and complex teams
•Management skills (planning, cost / schedule
control, OH planning, delegation, etc.)
•Ability to work with different engineering disciplines
and the customers to derive, decompose
requirements and specifications.
•Must be capable of assessing performance of direct
reports
•Individual needs to be comfortable dealing with all
levels of staff, management and customers. Must be
able to deliver tough messages.
•Candidate needs to understand military standards,
requirements and products and have experience
coordinating, planning, preparing and executing
military ground and flight testing.
•Candidate needs to have a strong technical
background with proven technical problem solving
skills.
•B.S. engineering or technical degree
Desired Skills:
•Leadership skills (Full Spectrum Leadership
characteristics)
•Detailed knowledge and experience in the
maintenance and testing of fixed wing aircraft.
•Experience in maturing hardware from concept to
development then production
•Aircraft level/Platform level integration and test
activities
•Detailed understanding of the military airworthiness
process
•Experience in integration and test
•Experience with SOF customers
•Experience in all program phases and ability to work
with teams in all phases
•Experience with IDIQ contracts and proven
experience and understanding of SOF GLSS business
climate and familiar with rapid response programs.
•Experience with C-130 and CV-22 aircraft is a plus.
