WHAT WE’RE DOING

Rotary and Mission Systems' Training, Logistics and Simulation (TLS) business is Lockheed Martin’s center of excellence for training and logistics products and services, serving the U.S. military and more than 65 international customers around the world. TLS develops programs that teach service men and women skills to accomplish their most challenging missions — flying the world’s most advanced fighter aircraft, navigating ships, and driving armored vehicles.

THE WORK

The U.S. Army’s Flight School Next (FSN) program modernizes Initial Entry Rotary‑Wing training by shifting to a contractor‑owned, contractor‑operated model that consolidates the training system, outsources aircraft and instruction, and uses modern helicopters, simulators, and digital tools to train 800‑1,500 pilots annually—delivering faster, more cost‑effective, and higher‑proficiency preparation for the Army’s vertical‑lift platforms.

As a key leader within our RMS Safety Management team, you will:

• Manage the Safety Management System (SMS) implementation team to include oversight and implementation across the four pillars of SMS with adherence to Lockheed Martin, National (FAA, DCMA), and International regulatory requirements across all functional groups,
• Manage the approval process for all objectives, work statements, budgets, schedules and risk management plans related to SMS activities,
• Oversee SMS audits within areas of applicability and reports effectiveness of the SMS program,
• Develop and coach others in the execution of SMS activities.
• Lead and coordinate subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training,
• Execute OneLM Culture adoption, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition actions.
• Participate in safety reviews, give formal presentations, and oversee SMS activities including internal as well as external audits by our customers including the FAA and DCMA
• Serve as the company SMS subject matter expert and engages with company Senior and Executive Leader Teams on SMS implementation status through periodic progress reports and briefings.

You are an experienced safety professional and leader with a strong background in aviation product and operational safety. You excel at leading SMS implementation, coaching teams, and navigating FAA and DCMA regulatory environments.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree and 6 or more years of professional experience
• Experience with Aviation products (rotorcraft preferred)
• Experience with Operational safety
• Experience with System safety

Desired Skills:
• Experience with FAA and DCMA audits
• Experience leading or coaching or managing others
• Safety Management System (SMS) experience
• Accident Investigation experience

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
