THE WORK:
The Cyber System Engineer Architect is in an extremely customer facing role leading multi faceted mission critical system development, deployment and evolution. The following are the primary functions of the position:
System Design and Architecture
● Develop and define the overall system architecture for satellite communications, including subsystems like payloads, ground stations, and user terminals.
● Gather, analyze, and document system requirements, ensuring alignment with stakeholder needs and regulatory standards.
● Create detailed design specifications and architectural models, including system interfaces, data flows, and performance metrics.
System Integration and Testing
● Develop and oversee the integration strategy for combining hardware, software, and network components into a cohesive system.
● Plan and execute integration and testing activities, including system-level tests, performance evaluations, and validation against requirements.
● Work with integration team to document, track and resolve reoccurring issues and system failures during testing and operational phases.
Software Development and Management
● Oversee the development of software components, including real-time and embedded software necessary for satellite communication.
● Conduct trade off studies to identify and analyze the possibility of reuse of existing software components to include the impact to schedule for additional integration or middleware creation.
● Manage software development processes, including the tracking and milestone development for coding, debugging, and performance optimization activities
Project Management
● Develop and manage project plans, including defining milestones, deliverables, schedules, and resource allocation.
● Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to address issues related to system design, integration, and operation.
● Monitor and control project resources, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently within the team.
Stakeholder Coordination
● Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including clients, government agencies, and vendors, to ensure alignment with project goals and requirements.
● Facilitate discussions and negotiations to resolve conflicts and ensure that stakeholder needs are met.

Basic Qualifications:
● Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, with 20 years or more of professional experience;
OR Master's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, with 18 years or more of professional experience;
OR High School Diploma, with 24 years or more of professional experience;
● Must possess the requisite security clearance and polygraphs to apply to this position
● Possess all capabilities as defined by the GG Statement of work (SOW) Appendix B for the USG standard SE labor category level SE6 as summarized below:
• Lead systems engineering activities and oversee the development and delivery of complex technical work products across multiple project areas.
• Conduct comprehensive analyses of technical alternatives and provide strategic recommendations for project implementation.
• Establish and propose appropriate engineering standards and processes to ensure project quality and consistency.
• Supervise and coordinate the efforts of contractor engineers and technicians to ensure technical alignment and execution.
• Develop innovative engineering approaches and methodologies to resolve complex technical issues.
• Brief stakeholders on technical project status and secure approval for the delivery of final work products.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for high-priority enterprise projects, managing unique or complex aspects that impact major capabilities.
Desired Skills:
Systems Engineering Expertise
● Proficiency in designing and defining the architecture of complex systems, including satellite communications systems. This involves creating system models, defining system interfaces, and ensuring integration across various subsystems.
● Skills in gathering, analyzing, and defining system requirements, including performance, reliability, and security requirements for satellite communications.
● Experience in integrating hardware, software, and network components to ensure cohesive system operation.
Satellite Communications Knowledge
● In-depth understanding of satellite communication technologies, including satellite orbits, transponders, modulation schemes, and link budgets.
● Familiarity with communication protocols and standards used in satellite communications, such as DVB-S2, SCPC, and protocols for ground station interfaces.
Software Development and Engineering
● Experience in leading programming tasks commonly used in satellite systems, such as C/C++, Python, and MATLAB.
● Ability to design and implement scalable and maintainable software architectures for satellite communication systems, including real-time and embedded software components.
● Experience in using simulation tools for modeling satellite systems and software components, including performance analysis and optimization.
Hardware and Embedded Systems Knowledge
● Understanding of satellite hardware components, including antennas and ground station equipment.
● Experience with embedded systems programming, including real-time operating systems (RTOS) and low-level hardware interfacing.
Project Management and Leadership
● Skills in project planning and management, including defining milestones, managing resources, and ensuring project deliverables meet technical and schedule requirements.
● Ability to lead and coordinate cross-functional teams, including systems engineers, software developers, and hardware engineers.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $145,200 - $255,990. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
