The Satellite Subsystem Engineer performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. For positions that perform IT responsibilities, use E646, Systems Engr-IT. Performs as the prime technical engineer for a satellite subsystem in a 24hr seven day-a-week environment.

In this role you will:
• Analyze system hardware state-of-health
• Provide engineering technical support in response to system issues/discrepancies
• Perform calibration activities to ensure specification requirements are met
• Create/maintain documentation and procedures associated with the system
• Interface with factory team and other support contractors
• Provide technical briefings to the customer and company management
• Occasional call-ins and travel are required
• Job location is in the Newington/Springfield Va area
• Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
• A CI Polygraph is required prior to start.
• Typically has 9+ years of professional experience

Basic Qualifications:
• Technical problem solving skills, basic Microsoft Office skills to include Project
• Good written and oral communication skills
**Active TS/SCI with poly security clearance to start or ability to obtain, US Citizenship required**
Desired Skills:
• Related Satellite Engineering experience
• Project Management experience
• Familiarity with Linux, Unix, Perl, MATLAB and C++
• Technical Leader skills
• Bachelors of Science degree such as Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, computer Science or equivalent experience can be used in lieu of degree

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
