This position supports NSP within the Strategic Missile Defense Line of Business in Lockheed Martin Space.

As a Sr Systems Engineer / Missile Canister Lead Engineer, you will:
- Lead design, development, test, & manufacturing efforts with canister supplier and integration with Missile IPT, Weapon Control System and Launcher organizations.
- Support mechanical integration of the canister with the launcher, including development of structures/mechanisms, electrical/instrumentation, thermal/environmental control subsystem specs & ICDs, in collaboration with the Requirements & Verification team
- Manage interface allocations to include mass properties, natural & induced environments mitigation, physical envelope to ensure smooth integration at the system level
- Support environmental, mechanical, electrical, and configuration model development
- Perform mechanical compatibility analyses
- Develop and implement integration plans for the canister into the weapon system
- Perform the functions of Canister Responsible Systems Engineer (RSE)
Provide independent review and coordination to ensure canister and flight system designs are mechanically compatible
- Support anomaly investigations during integration and test phase
- Lead and Participate in design maturity reviews

Typically has 9 - 15 years of professional experience.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Math, Physics or other related discipline or equivalent work experience
- Missile system modeling, mechanical design and/or integration experience
- Skilled in Creo CAD modeling and CAD control
- Experience defining and documenting system mechanical interfaces
- Experience coordinating with multiple engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Flight Sciences, Materials, Manufacturing, Test, GSE, Logistics, etc.)
- US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
Desired Skills:
- Experience with Missile in Canister Hot Launch
- Experience with MBSE/OSA, Agile, Spiral Development
- Experience managing mass properties budgets, performing mechanical compatibility analysis and conducting design audits
- Geometric Tolerancing and Dimensioning expertise
- Experience ensuring the physical and functional compatibility of hardware products throughout the full life cycle of the program
- Experience with MGSE/EGSE/PHS&T
- Mechanical and pressure testing / qualification
- Participant in Systems Engineering reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, MRR)
- Demonstrated basic understanding of systems thinking skills and behaviors
- Ability to operate in a dynamic environment and take on numerous roles as part of the daily program operations
- Active Secret clearance
