Job Responsibilities
Description:The Responsible Systems Engineer (RSE) for the FBM Program Boost Control System (PBCS) serves as the single technical point of contact for the entire PBCS suite and each constituent product, providing continuity of product knowledge, source data, and traceability of all system relationships, owners, and required accountabilities. Acting as a knowledgeable, experienced, and trained specialist, the RSE advocates for the product throughout its lifecycle—from requirements definition through mission operations—and leads the life‑extension effort to ensure sustained reliability, availability, and performance. In this role the engineer collaborates with software, hardware, configuration‑management, test, logistics, and program‑management teams to develop integration strategies, conduct risk‑based assessments, and implement technical improvements across PBCS components. The RSE is accountable for proper performance and mission success of the PBCS, resisting inappropriate compromises, balancing technical performance against cost and schedule pressures, and ensuring that all engineering changes support the system’s extended service life while maintaining overall mission readiness.
As a valued member of our team you will:
Report to the FBM Controls PBCS Manager/ FBM Chief Systems Engineer and is responsible for providing technical oversight of the Trident II (D5LE) PBCS and Mission Success throughout the life cycle of the missile sub-system.
Is the technical expert who maintains a full understanding of the D5LE PBCS and verifies compliance with sub system requirements.
Is the technical advocate for the D5LE PBCS who gathers performance information, supports major reviews, and participates in critical production, critical missile design decisions and alteration activities to support overall missile system assessments.
Participates in problem investigations, troubleshooting, development of corrective action plans, and integration of technical requirements with facility and fleet operation activities.
Integrate new development efforts into SWF operations and capabilities to support new fleet deployments.
Is responsible for having a complete understanding of program-unique and Space command media which ensures the PBCS meet technical requirements throughout their lifecycle.
Is accountable for the technical integrity of the D5 PBCS. This includes ensuring compatibility between internal interfaces and across interfacing subsystems of the Strategic Weapon System.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and other technical personnel to create program plans and track the plans through execution
Experience working with system and/or program requirements on cross functional teams
Experience successfully leading projects with teams and suppliers located across multiple locations
Experience with understanding customer needs, such as participating in Customer Value Propositions
Experience putting together presentations to internal senior leaders such as Directors
Active or ability to gain a DoD security clearance
Desired Skills:
- Missile and/or aerospace related education or experience
- Missile and/or space propulsion hardware experience
- Experience with FBM processes and products
- Experience with aerospace manufacturing
- Experience in gas/fluid dynamics or energetics/propellants
- Experience as principal engineer delegate or project lead
- Risk and opportunity experience with an understanding of continuous improvement concepts
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated leadership and initiative

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $85,500 - $150,765. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
