Lockheed Martin Space in Englewood, CO is seeking a Mechanical Engineer - Early Career. In this role, you will work in the Life Extension 2 Structures Design Team with the development of Structural architectures, requirements, and designs in collaboration with our Navy partners, with many opportunities for career development along the way. You will be an integral part of a growing multi-disciplinary team that will be shaping the future of FBM Missile Structures.
Additional responsibilities will include:
• Support Structures Subsystem Integration activities
• Assist the conceptual development, requirements definition, and design of structures components
• Perform trade studies to select appropriate design solutions
• Develop product performance specifications, statements of work, and technical data packages for components
• Develop engineering models, drawings, and specifications to support systems and components
• Ability to work on a multi-disciplined team performing design trades, detailed design and analysis activities.
• Provide user documentation and recommendations to data packages to support peer and customer reviews, present analysis data to engineering teams, customer technical representatives, and Program Office personnel at technical interchange meetings and design reviews.
The successful candidate will have a degree in a STEM field or related technical discipline and exposure through directly relatable experience, understanding of mechanical engineering design and analysis principals and knowledge of, or prior experience with, analysis in statics, dynamics, heat transfer/ thermal Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Fleet Ballistic Missiles (FBM) is one of Lockheed Martin’s outstanding Lines of Businesses that prioritizes partnership, integrity, and reliability. The Life Extension 2 team is an organization within the greater FBM program which supports the development of the Next Generation System by developing concepts, researching, and maturing technologies to support the development of the next FBM Missile System.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Desired Skills:
• Experience with LMCO, LM Space, or FBM processes and command media
• Understanding of mechanical engineering design and analysis principals
• Knowledge of, or prior experience with, analysis in statics, dynamics, heat transfer/ thermal
• Aerospace mechanical design experience
• Experience with composites design and/or manufacturing
• Knowledge of Geometric Design & Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Experience with CAD tool modelling and drafting (Creo or similar)
• Familiarity with SysML (Cameo)
• Experience with requirement definition, documentation, and verification
• Active DoD security clearance (Secret or higher)
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint)

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off

The annual base salary range for this position in Colorado or Washington is $53,600 - $102,800 . Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full time employees: accrue 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO); receive 40 hours of Granted PTO annually for incidental absences; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of PTO per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO is prorated based on hours worked and start date during the calendar year.
