Lockheed Martin, a leader in advancing secure communications and cutting-edge defense technology, is seeking a Software Architect to join our team in King of Prussia, PA. This role offers the opportunity to work on mission-critical projects that protect and serve our nation’s defense.
You will be working on military satellite communications (SATCOM) Ground systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in system integration with understanding of software architecture and web application development. As the Framework IPT lead, you will lead the program effort of establishing, hardening and improving the framework for deployment and utilization across the system.
As Framework IPT lead you will:
▪️ Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, testing, and operations, to ensure successful development, installation, hardening and improvement of the system frameworks
▪️ Develop and maintain the overall framework architecture for the Ground system, ensuring alignment with program goals and objectives
▪️ Develop and maintain the framework technical roadmap, diagrams, and documents to guide the framework team
▪️ Ensure compliance with industry standards, best practices, and security requirements
▪️ Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and prioritize integration requirements
▪️ Develop and execute proof-of-concepts (POCs) to validate decisions
▪️ Provide technical guidance and oversight to the teams
▪️ Identify and mitigate technical risks and issues
▪️ Continuously progress the technical solution for improvements in automation, decrease installation time and drive out cyber findings
▪️ Effectively manage the subcontractor work to include clear statement of work with product expectations and requirements flow down.
Basic Qualifications:
▪️ Experience in cloud-based, modern web frameworks with a focus on system integration
▪️ Experience in infrastructure and middleware
▪️ Strong knowledge of software architecture patterns, including microservices, event-driven architecture, and service-oriented architecture
▪️ Experience with API design and development, including RESTful APIs
▪️ Strong understanding of data modeling and database design
▪️ Experience with containerization (e.g., Docker) and
orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes)
▪️ Strong understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC), particularly in secure, high-performance applications.
▪️ Proficiency in Agile methodologies such as Scrum, including experience with test-driven development (TDD) or behavior-driven development (BDD).
▪️ Experience in management of subcontract team members contributing to technical solutions
▪️ Final secret clearance
Desired Skills:
▪️ Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop creative solutions
▪️ Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
▪️ Experience in management of subcontract team members contributing to technical solutions
▪️ Bachelor’s and or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
▪️ Familiarity with military SATCOM systems and secure communication protocols.
▪️ Familiarity with DevSecOps process, tools and frameworks.
▪️ Problem-solving skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
▪️ Experience with cloud-based platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
▪️ Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance requirements
▪️ Experience with DevOps practices and tools
▪️ Familiarity with container security and vulnerability management
▪️ Experience with technical writing and documentation
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $151,200 - $266,570. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
