Description:WHAT WE'RE DOING

Join the EADGE-T team and help modernize the program’s technology while delivering new capabilities to the UAE customer. EADGE-T provides an integrated air and missile defense and air battle management capability that connects existing sensors, weapons, and emerging technologies.

The Technical Refresh effort will focus on hardware upgrades and foundational cybersecurity enhancements. This is an opportunity to help design and develop the updated baseline while working directly with an international customer.

THE WORK

The Network Communications Engineer will design, configure, secure, monitor, and troubleshoot complex, high-performance communication networks supporting mission-critical systems.

This role requires strong technical expertise across network architecture, integration, automation, cybersecurity, and performance optimization. You will help ensure the reliability, redundancy, security, and scalability of networks operating across multiple classification domains.

PLEASE NOTE

  • This position requires a government security clearance at the Secret level; you must be a U.S. Citizen for consideration.
  • This position may require travel to customer sites throughout the UAE.
  • This position may occasionally support off-hours test events, including overnight and weekend activities.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Network Design & Architecture

  • Support the Lead Network Architect in decomposing system-level requirements and developing functional, logical, and physical architectures for data center network solutions.
  • Help develop infrastructure and network policies, including LAN/WAN firewall, network continuity, Quality of Service (QoS), IP addressing, encryption, AAA, and monitoring plans.


Implementation & Integration

  • Install and configure routers, switches, firewalls, and specialized network infrastructure.
  • Integrate network solutions with server infrastructure, mission systems, data links, and WAN environments while adhering to applicable DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).


Performance Optimization

  • Support capacity planning, latency analysis, and bandwidth optimization for high-throughput, low-latency applications.
  • Implement traffic engineering techniques, including MPLS, segment routing, policing, and traffic shaping, to meet performance requirements.


Troubleshooting & Incident Management

  • Perform root-cause analysis and resolve complex network faults, packet loss, routing loops, and authentication issues.
  • Use tools such as Wireshark, NetFlow, and telemetry platforms to monitor performance and proactively address network issues.


Security & Compliance

  • Apply Cyber System Security Plan guidance and Zero Trust networking principles while enforcing encryption, authentication, and integrity controls.
  • Support NIST 800-53 controls, firewall rule implementation, zone-segmentation policies, and centralized security management tools.


Network Automation & Management

  • Use tools such as Ansible, Python, and vendor-developed scripts to automate network configuration and deployment.
  • Use SNMP, NETCONF, CLI commands, and shell scripting to support configuration backup, rollback, and recovery.


Network Monitoring

  • Use commercial or open-source network monitoring tools such as OpenText NNMi, Nagios XI, SolarWinds, or OpenNMS.


WHO WE ARE

EADGE-T has a geographically dispersed project team that operates in an Agile Scrum environment.

Team members have the opportunity to work directly with an international customer and gain exposure to the technologies and processes supporting this upgrade.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Network Communications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or Cyber Security
2+ years of hands on network engineering experience.
Certifications:
• Cisco CCNA/CCNP/CCIE (Routing & Switching or Data Center) or Juniper JNCIA (preferred)/JNCIP/JNCIE, Arista EOS, etc.).
• CompTIA Network+, Security+
Knowledge of TCP/IP, IPv4, VLAN tagging, RSTP, LAG, VTEP, BGP, OSPF, GRE, MPLS, TLS, IPsec, MACsec.
Familiarity with network hardware (Juniper (preferred), Cisco, Palo Alto, DELL, Arista)
Scripting/automation experience (Python, PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform).
Familiarity with network logging tools (ArcSight, Splunk, other Syslog tools)
Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, IDS/IPS, VPNs, PKI, stateful/stateless firewall with ALG, and symmetric/asymmetric encryption methods, cryptographic hash functions and familiarity of NSA CSFC capabilities & algorithms
Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities; ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Ability to obtain a US DoD Secret Clearance
Desired Skills:
Experience with Juniper EX, QFX, SRX, and MX products
Network Management: Juniper Apstra, Mist, Ansible (configuration deployment), Syslog, NTPv4, NETConf, SNMPv2/v3
Virtual Hypervisor & Micro Services: VMWare VCF (understanding of vSwitch and vSAN, VM interfaces), K8 (understanding of Kubernetes and containers’ network interfaces and ports)
Experience with high capacity fiber optics MMF and SM i.e. 10/25/40/100 Gbps data rates
Familiarity with Wireshark/PCAP and/or TCPDUMP/LIBPCAP packet analysis
Familiarity with Network Monitoring tools. Experience with SNMP v2c/v3
DISA network device STIGS including Network Policy
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $70,100 - $123,625. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
