What We are Doing

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental Safety and Health (ESH) Engineer to join our team at Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS). The goal of this role is to ensure a safe and environmentally responsible workplace, while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. As an ESH Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and implementation of our safety programs and ESH management system.

The Work

The ESH Engineer will be responsible for:
* Providing comprehensive environmental, safety, and health services to maintain a secure and compliant workplace
* Focusing on various safety areas, including but not limited to:
+ Confined Spaces
+ Contractor Safety
+ Cranes & Slings
+ Fall Protection
+ Hazard Communication
+ Ladder Safety
+ Machine Guarding
+ Aerial lifts
+ Powered Industrial Trucks
+ Raised Platforms & Scaffolding
* Developing and implementing safety programs and procedures to prevent injuries and illnesses
* Conducting risk assessments and providing recommendations for mitigating hazards
* Collaborating with teams across RMS to ensure a safe and healthy work environment
* Representing the organization at various levels, effectively conveying the company's strategy and objectives
* Providing leadership and team support to ESH department members, mentoring and guiding them to achieve their goals and objectives

Please note: This position requires the ability to travel up to 50%.

Who You Are

The ideal candidate for this role will be a highly skilled and experienced ESH professional with a strong background in environmental, safety, and health engineering. You will possess:
* A degree in Environmental Science, Safety Engineering, or a related field
* Professional certification in safety, such as CSP or CIH
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences
* Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide ESH department members
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on safety, compliance, and continuous improvement
* Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards, including OSHA and EPA regulations
* Experience with safety management systems and risk assessment methodologies

Basic Qualifications:
• 15 years of related professional experience. Considered an ESH compliance subject matter expert.
• Demonstrate a high level of industrial and occupational technical ability and knowledge to ensure a regulatory compliant, safe and healthy environment for employees and visitors. Experience includes but is not limited to implementing, OSHA, EPA, DOT, state and local ESH regulations and programs;
• Ability to develop new and innovative methods to increase employee awareness of, and engagement in, ESH compliance programs/initiatives promoting a strong ESH culture across RMS while taking the initiative to challenge the status quo.
• Apply ergonomic principles to improve cultural awareness of the risks associated with improper workstation design and enhance the understanding of proactive measures.
• Ability to analyze complex technical data from chemical data sheets and environmental health surveys using logic and quantitative reasoning.
• Strong computer skills, especially Nuance PDF, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
• Minimum requirements include, but are not limited to, Lifting and Carrying up to 40 lbs., Pushing/Pulling of up to 75 lbs. and working from elevated platforms such as ladders as they relate to employee work locations or investigations to apply root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Desired Skills:
• Bachelors Degree in a related field with 14 years related professional experience or Master's degree with 12 years related experience.
• Professional and technical ESH experience in a manufacturing, test, or industrial environment
• Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA, and Environmental requirements, regulations and associated compliance programs
• ESH experience in subject areas such as but not limited to industrial safety, material handling, NFPA Life Safety Code, lock-out-tag-out, hazard recognition and other industrial safety programs
• Knowledge and experience with Hazardous Waste regulations (including identification, handling, profile management, shipments and recordkeeping).
• Strong written and oral communication skills, ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment
• Ability to ensure task completion and regulatory compliance with minimal direct supervision.
• Strengths in customer service and cooperative teaming, and a demonstrated capability in managing multiple projects/tasks effectively while prioritizing tasks and work load, and ensuring timely closure of assignments.
• Skill in working independently and completing assignments thoroughly, accurately and on time.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, while meeting time commitments and remaining flexible to other responsibilities.
• Ability to work effectively within a fast paced, and diverse population and maintaining collaboration with customers, peers and leadership
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygiene (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Certified Laser Safety Officer (CLSO), Radiation Safety Officer or other ESH nationally recognized certifications is a plus, but not specifically required.

Ability to Work Remotely: Full-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work remotely full time at a location other than a Lockheed Martin designated office/job site. Employees may travel to a Lockheed Martin office for periodic meetings.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $128,400 - $222,640. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. This position is incentive plan eligible.
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $111,700 - $196,880. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.
