Description:Lockheed Martin is seeking to hire an embedded software engineer at our campus in Chelmsford, Massachusetts.

-This exciting role will offer the opportunity to work with our industry leading FPGA designers, technical leads and microwave subject matter experts.
-The engineer will support the development of complex multi-function microwave modules used in challenging size, weight and power applications.
-The engineer will be responsible for the embedded software within our microwave modules and the system architecture of the digital/processor sub systems.
-The engineer will work on technical solutions to a wide range of difficult challenges. Those solutions will be imaginative, thorough, and practicable, and consistent with organization objectives. These software designs will interface to other subsystems, control microwave circuits, perform message processing and perform digital signal processing (DSP).
-The engineer will work as a versatile member of a small team. The engineer will develop complete software solutions independently as the Chelmsford site software engineer.
-The engineer will have opportunities to do R&D with a variety of technologies like, Image Processing, Machine Learning, Robotics and RF manipulation.
-The engineer will collaborate across the division for processes, tools, and subject matter experts. Tasks may include software requirements development, software coding and software test.
-The engineer may also provide software solutions in support of product test and FPGA verification.
-Applicants selected will be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Relocation: Relocation assistance is possible for this exciting position. 
The Locale: Chelmsford, Massachusetts is a charming suburb of Boston located about 25 miles northwest of that city. Chelmsford is very close to historic Lowell Massachusetts and to Nashua, New Hampshire. Chelmsford is within reach of New Hampshire’s White Mountains and awesome ski areas to the north, and the scenic coastal towns of MA and NH are about an hour east. This scenic colonial region offers lots of New England charm, great schools, shopping, and restaurants. Chelmsford and the region share an impressive past from the early days after the pilgrims arrived in Plymouth to the revolutionary war. Where can you get to from Chelmsford? Chelmsford is about 90 minutes from Cape Cod. Boston is about 30 minutes to the east without traffic. New York City is about 4.5 hours away from Chelmsford. Waterville Valley and other major ski resorts of New Hampshire and Vermont are about 2 to 3 hours to the north.
It should be noted that Chelmsford, Massachusetts is approximately 35 miles northwest of the Boston metropolitan area and offers better access to a wide range of substantially more affordable regions in the area to live. Those regions include Northeastern and North Central Massachusetts, and Southern, New Hampshire.

Basic Qualifications:
• BS Degree, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or closely related technical field.
• Embedded software development experience.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++ is required.
• Experience in developing for bare-metal, Zephyr, or Linux operating systems.
• Experience with version control tools such as GIT.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python, TCL, Bash, Bat and Makefiles.
• Hands on experience with software debugging protocols and tools using JTAG.
• Excellent verbal, communication and organizational skills.
• The ability to work effectively in a team environment and the ability to multi-task are required.
• Candidate must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance and have the ability to be granted an interim secret prior to start.
Desired Skills:
• Experience with embedded ARM processors in an Xilinx and/or Microchip FPGA (SOC).
• 5+ years in embedded software development.
• Experience with interfacing to FPGA HDL firmware.
• Knowledge of serial interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART and RS422.
• Experience with developing in a Linux and Windows environment.
• Experience with Xilinx and Microsemi FPGA’s with embedded ARM processors and tools.
• Creative R&D mindset.
• Experience with lab equipment such as power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators and analyzers.
• Experience with board bring up and u-boot.
• Experience with SDR and GNU Radio.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
