Fleet Ballistic Missiles (FBM) is one of Lockheed Martin’s best-in-class Lines of Businesses that prioritizes partnership, integrity and reliability. Controls Engineering is an organization within FBM that facilitates control of the missile through servo actuators, gas hydraulic systems and small rocket motors.

We are a community of engineers looking for a dependable engineer to join our tight-knit group. The Mechanical Controls group is an organization within FBM that is responsible for the design and production support of the systems that control the missile both before and after boost. This position is for an Associate Engineer in
Controls Engineering that both collaborates well in a team environment and has excellent communication skills. Additionally, in this role, you will have numerous opportunities to represent the Controls team with our Navy partner and with LM leadership, with many opportunities for career development along the way.

As part of our team you will have the opportunity to manage the hardware components within the Thrust Vector Control (TVC) group. As a component Hardware Owner, or Certified Principle Engineer (CPE) delegate, you will be empowered to develop technical solutions, work with our subcontract partners, and be the technical lead of Servo Actuators and Gas Hydraulic Assemblies throughout different phases of the product life-cycle (qualification, production, service support, aging, etc.)

- Develop technical requirements and engineering documentation
- Lead investigations
- Provide project budget management including collaboration with subcontract management to provide technical support
- Contribute to new business trade studies
- Enhance cross discipline product development

- Be the technical interface to FBM management, systems engineering, quality, and our Navy counterparts.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or related technical field OR equivalent experience
• Experience and/or knowledge of mechanical design
• Any combination of exposure to: engineering project management, supplier management, annual budget proposals, technical evaluations, tracking and development of cost/schedule
• Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance; US citizenship required
Desired Skills:
• Familiarity with propulsion subsystem integration
• Exposure to or participation with failure investigations, root cause analysis, and/or corrective action disposition
• Experience with FBM processes and products
• Experience with CAD and hardware modeling tools (e.g. Pro-E/CREO, Matlab)
• Experience in gas/fluid dynamics or energetics/propellants
• Experience in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Experience as CPE delegate or project lead
• Risk and opportunity experience with an understanding of continuous improvement concepts

Pay Rate:
In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $52,400 - $87,400 . Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed.
