Description:Our team at Lockheed Martin Space is looking for a motivated Software Engineering Associate Manager to join our team working on the Future Operationally Resilient Ground Evolution (FORGE) Mission Data Processing Applications Provider (MDPAP) effort and other Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) mission processing development efforts. This position is a first line manager of a cross-functional team of employees supporting development of mission processing software utilized for missile warning. The selected candidate will be expected to perform in a technical leadership role to meet daily operational requirements in addition to assuming the engineering management responsibilities. In this role, you will be required to exercise a breadth of skillsets in order to fulfill your operational and programmatic responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Technical Leadership Skills: Participating in, and facilitating day-to-day project conversations to ensure that the technical solution space is being considered from a systems thinking perspective while also accounting for cost & schedule impacts. The candidate will be expected to become familiar with mission processing capabilities, architecture, and processes.
- Engineering Management Skills: Participate in and contribute to each employee's career growth, providing empowerment, coaching and guidance to various areas of skills development. Monitor and actively provide feedback on employees' performances. Attract, onboard, and retrain new talent. Ensure that projects are appropriately staffed with the needed skillsets to complete the technical efforts.
- Communication Skills: Written & Verbal; Participate in the preparation of all program reporting mechanisms, e.g. Program Management Reviews, Technical Highlights, etc
Basic Qualifications:
• Proven Technical Leadership experience on small teams
• Record of effectively interacting with senior engineers and customer personnel on significant technical and programmatic matters, often requiring coordination between organizations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong social skills, and ability to build solid relationships with team members
• Demonstrated understanding of systems thinking skills and behavior
Desired Skills:
• Familiarity with Agile based Program execution
• Familiarity with DevSecOps execution strategies
• Previous experience in DoD space programs
• Missile or space segment engineering experience with one or more subsystems or disciplines
• Experience with EVM
• Active secret clearance.
• Experience in software design and development.
