This position is part of Software Database Engineering team. You will possess a variety of skills both technical and soft. You will need to thrive in a dynamic environment, be an outside the box thinker, have strong interpersonal skills, strong technical skills (any or many of the following: software, scripting, SQL, Linux, COTS, configuration management, ClearCase, GIT) and work well in a team environment. This will be an exciting, evolutionary and empowered position that will align with our current IA and cyber requirements. We are looking for fearless individuals that are considered junior journeymen in any of the above areas of expertise. Your time on this team will include opportunities to broaden and expand you skill sets to cover many of the above.
Incumbent will be responsible for SQL and other Software Database activities to include: performance, installation, design, configuration management, integrity and security. Typical responsibilities consist of but are not limited to:
- analysis of requirements
- assessing database management solutions against standards and best practices
- commissioning and installing databases for new applications
- monitoring performance and managing parameters
- configuration management
- controlling access permissions and privileges
- ensuring that storage, archiving, back-up and recovery procedures are functioning correctly
- developing, managing, and testing back-up and recovery plans
- capacity planning
- collaborating with IT project managers, database engineers, application programmers and other database administrators
- communicating regularly with technical, applications and operational staff
- composing database documentation, including data standards and procedures

Typically has 2 - 5 years of professional experience.

Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information before starting the position.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in database engineering or related fields or equivalent experience.
The selected candidate must be a US citizen and have the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security clearance.
Desired Skills:
- Knowledge over database security processes and implementation
- Database administration scripting
- Knowledge of Unix, Solaris and/or Linux RHEL operating systems
- System development life cycle
- Technical and analytical problem solving skills
- Experience with PosgreSQL a plus!
- SQL database design, development and administration(MS Sql Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL)
- SQL planning resources, database upgrades, backup & recovery strategy, implementations, and environment transitions (development, test, stage, and production)
- SQL database loading, development and management of operational procedures, environment management and database health (including database tuning and/or performance monitoring)
- Database refactoring
- System development life cycle
- Demonstrated customer service and interpersonal skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and work in a dynamic, fast paced environment
