Senior Tax Accountant

Description:Reporting to International Tax Counsel/International Tax Director, this role will serve as the primary interface with the International Accounting organization for alignment on accounting and taxation treatment worldwide.

This position requires accounting and taxation technical knowledge and demonstrated ability to interpret and apply local regulations. To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the necessary experience & skills to:

•Ensure statutory compliance for Canada GST and Tax.
•Maintain tax calendar to drive accurate and timely filing of all GST and Tax returns.
•Support GST and Tax audits in Canada.
•Support related ad hoc activities as assigned, with specific focus on supporting non-US audits as needed.

Specific Functions :
Assist in regional tax compliance for international GST and Corporation Income Tax including the preparation, filing and payment of GST returns insuring timely and accurate compliance. Requirements include:

•Work closely with business area finance teams and other internal stakeholders to ensure GST and tax compliance.
•Participate cross-departmental projects to help resolve GST and tax issues.
•Ability to meet deadlines while providing excellent customer service to served business units.
•Ability to conduct research independently.

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, SAP and tax software applications. The successful candidate must be detail-oriented, meticulous, hands-on, and a self-starter who can take direction and then work independently. Travel may be required to support the business on specific projects or items of importance (expecting up to 10%).
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 6 years experience in tax accounting in large corporation or Big Four accounting firm
- Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with team and customers
- Basic understanding of GST/VAT
- Audit experience dealing with various tax jurisdictions
- Demonstrated attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to be satisfied working in groups, but also independently in a fast paced environment
Desired Skills:
- CPA or actively working toward becoming a qualified CPA
- Canada GST knowledge and understanding
- Previous experience with Canada audit support
- Demonstrated knowledge and interest in tax technology
- Fluent written and verbal communication skills in French
