Instructional Designer and Performance Consultant

Description:Reports to the Performance and Learning Solutions Manager. Performs the following duties:

- Conducts performance consultations with internal clients to address major enterprise capabilities and workforce planning needs (e.g., Leadership, Program Management, Engineering)
- Conducts needs analyses to identify causes of performance gaps, evaluate knowledge/skill gaps, and design solutions to performance problems in order to build organizational capability
- Designs learning experiences that provide opportunities for LM employees to build capabilities in order to prepare them for future roles and that map to defined career paths and competencies
- Curates existing content, both internal and external, to address competency and/or skill gaps, knowledge needs, and performance issues of Lockheed Martin employees
- Incorporates best practices/common approaches from outside industry (MOOCs, Microlearning, Games, Sims, etc.) into experience design
- Ensures employees can easily find, connect with, and engage designed solutions
- Partners successfully with Global Supply Chain and outside vendors when needed to develop learning experiences
- Articulates strategies, potential costs, and impacts of learning experiences to key stakeholders including Sr Managers, Directors, and VPs
- Implements instructional measurement strategies and participates in monitoring/updating learning and performance solutions
- Works in alignment with multiple stakeholders to build solutions that are effective for multiple key stakeholders including: corporate, functional, and business area learning organizations
- Facilitates design meetings, delivers training (including train-the-trainer), and assists with virtual instructor-led training
- Designs and delivers complex learning experiences using various delivery modes (i.e., web-based, instructor-led, virtual instructor-led, electronic performance support systems, on-line help, new media, and blended approaches) to address business/performance needs
- Identifies and addresses the concerns of others to overcome resistance, gain support and achieve results
- Works collaboratively to ensure process/experience integration with local, regional, national and international business partners to drive successful execution of learning solutions
- Builds and maintains collaborative partnerships to implement learning experiences
- Advances our learning technology transformation by designing learning experiences that are untethered, on-demand, collaborative and empowered
- Stays up-to-date and knowledgeable of available learning technologies
- Develops engaging learner-centric experiences in multimedia formats to infuse learning in all aspects of LM behavior
- Establishes project plans, manage project timelines, resources, and budgets
Basic Qualifications:
- 5+ Years working in Learning Development environment and developing learning solutions with modern instructional approaches
- Demonstrated experience and capability in the following areas: performance consulting, project leadership, adult learning theory, learning technology, creating and performing needs assessments and analyses, writing performance objectives, designing and implementing instructional measurements, working in a multidisciplinary team, technical writing, quality assurance of training products, train-the-trainer
- Demonstrated proficiency in designing large-scale curriculums and/or capability development programs
- Proficiency using industry-standard course authoring tools (e.g.; Articulate Storyline, Adobe eLearning Suite, Lectora, or similar)
- Intermediate or above proficiency using Microsoft Office & Related Products (Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.)
Desired Skills:
- Master’s Degree in Performance Consulting, Instructional Systems Design, and/or Learning Technologies preferred; Bachelor’s degree in a related field in combination with relevant experience acceptable.
- Graphic design and multimedia tool experience a plus
- Experience designing for and/or facilitating in live, virtual classroom tools (e.g.; Adobe Connect, WebEx, or similar)
