Job Responsibilities

Job ID: 732988BR Date posted: Jun. 22, 2026
Description:The defense industry is undergoing rapid transformation, with increasing global complexity and evolving security demands redefining what it takes to compete. Organizations are under growing pressure to deliver with both precision and speed while adapting in real time. Success requires more than incremental improvement—it demands the ability to build capability, scale performance, and drive meaningful change across the enterprise.
In response to urgent national priorities—including the acceleration of munitions production in support of the Department of War—Lockheed Martin is building a new kind of internal consulting capability to meet the moment. This team operates at the intersection of strategy and execution, partnering directly with internal production sites and external suppliers to unlock capacity, remove constraints, and rapidly scale output to support mission-critical priorities.
Lockheed Martin Consulting was established to lead this effort. As the internal consulting arm, we partner across the enterprise to solve complex challenges, accelerate performance, and embed sustainable improvements. We are helping to reshape the defense industrial base—bringing structured problem solving, deep operational expertise, and a bias for action to environments where speed, rigor, and execution are paramount.
We operate at the forefront of a cultural shift toward agility, accountability, and performance excellence. Our ambition is to become the enterprise’s partner of choice—delivering measurable impact and enabling sustained performance in support of mission-critical outcomes.

What You Will Be Doing

• Diagnose operational performance gaps by analyzing end-to-end processes, identifying bottlenecks, constraints, and sources of variability across production and support functions
• Lead data-driven root cause analyses (e.g., yield loss, downtime, rework, cycle time deviation) and translate findings into targeted improvement actions
• Optimize throughput and flow by applying principles of capacity analysis, line balancing, and constraint management to maximize system output
• Drive cost and productivity improvements through labor optimization, waste elimination, and efficiency initiatives across manufacturing and support operations
• Design and implement Lean and continuous improvement solutions, including standard work, visual management, daily management systems, and performance tiering
• Support production scheduling and planning improvements, enhancing sequencing logic, WIP management, and on-time delivery performance
• Partner with frontline teams on the shop floor to test, refine, and implement solutions in real time, ensuring practicality and adoption
• Develop and deploy performance management systems, including KPIs, dashboards, and management routines to sustain improvements
• Support digital and systems enablement, including MES optimization, data visibility, and automation of reporting and decision-making tools
• Quantify and track impact, ensuring initiatives deliver measurable improvements in key metrics such as throughput, cycle time, utilization, and cost per unit
• Build operational capabilities within the business, coaching operators, supervisors, and managers on problem-solving and continuous improvement methodologies

Schedule for this Position: Non- standard 40 hour work week as assigned by leader with flexibility for additional hours expected based on workload
Basic Qualifications:

• Experience managing workstreams or leading key components of projects
• Strong proficiency in Excel for modeling and analysis; familiarity with Python, SQL, Tableau, or other analytics tools is a plus
• Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly to stakeholders
• Hands-on experience in operational environments, including collaboration with frontline teams
• Ability to travel as needed to support projects across sites
Desired Skills:
• Experience in consulting or internal consulting teams focused on operational transformation, process improvement, or performance excellence
• Demonstrated success leading continuous improvement, cost reduction, or operational optimization initiatives
